Better than expected

I was skeptical that a two in one would give a good experience but I was wrong. Yes, it's fairly top heavy but not much more than my 8" polesaw. It cuts very nicely. I mistreated it for three hours straight and it cut through branches up to 10" thick like butter. By the end the chain came off the bar once but the chain and the bar had been wedged between branch and (heavy) stem a few times and the chain was warm (I did not treat it well)--operator error. Given that it easily saved me $1000 in labour costs it was definitely worth it. I did oil it. No complaints whatsoever. I'd definitely buy again.

Great Powerful Tool For Tree-Branch Needs

So far so good. You hardly need to read the instructions since pretty much intuitive. Although the extender gives the use to reach the highest reaches to trim your tree without a ladder, I found it very, very difficult due to the huge weight. Other than that the tool met my needs.

Saw works great but!

Opened this yesterday, after a few minutes use. The part that attaches the pole to the saw broke. It is made of plastic, I guess you get what you pay for 🤷‍♀️

Questions

Q: How do you tighten the chain? It keeps on becoming loose after every cut. There is no auto tightening as mentioned in the description. The cover of the sprocket becomes raised on the left as you tighten the chain cover lock knob.

  • A: First know how tight or loose your chain should be. Snug it up as properly needed by tightening the knob. Take your time to get to know your tool.

Q: Where to get parts

2 Answers
  • A: Hang on a minute! You purchased the chainsaw from Canadian Tire and when you ask them where you could source the parts, they forward the question to their “analysts”, who happen to be their customers like you and I, who offer “feedback-through-experience” to those in need of assistance. That’s ridiculous! Anyway, I would simply call Canadian Tire, where you bought it, right!  WRONG!

Q: You mentioned earlier that you put grease in a small grey hole in the tip of the bar near where it says 10". Does the chainsaw come with this grease and if not, then what type of grease do you need to use? Does it need grease to be able to use?

2 Answers
  • A: The pole chain saw does not come with either grease for the tip sprocket, or chain/bar oil. CT does sell a plunger type greaser for chain saw tip sprockets. It comes pre-loaded with grease for that exact purpose which can be re-loaded with grease when emptied. High temparature grease is probably required. I would definitely grease the sprocket tip to ensure smooth operation as well as bar longevity.

Q: What is the largest thickness of a branch this saw can cut?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello there! Thank you for your inquiry. The Yardworks 9‑Amp 2‑in‑1 Electric Pole Saw / Chainsaw is equipped with a 10‑inch guide bar, which means it can practically cut branches up to about 8 inches in diameter. This allows adequate clearance for safe control and efficient chain movement, making it well suited for pruning and limbing medium‑sized branches rather than cutting large tree trunks. Thank you for choosing Yardworks!

Q: anyone have a part number for the chain?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello Valued Customer, Thank you for your question. The part number we recommend is through the Oregon Chain Brand - 91PX040G. This will have the 40 Drive Links, 050" Gauge, 3/8" LP Pitch required for your chain! These details can be found in your manual for reference. Thank you for choosing Yardworks!
