Bought this 1 week ago after watching for it to go on sale. It was to be a "treat" for myself with my accumulated CT money. I wanted a back up for my 20 year old Rigid of the same size and peak HP. All I can praise is that the attachments are great and the wheel set up is well done to avoid tipping when towing it around the garage. I joke that my Rigid brand will suck a nail out if a 2x4 and I should have stuck with a Rigid as a replacement. This vacuum could not even suck a tiny little rock off the ground, smaller than a dime. I can't believe this is their top of line house brand product. I expect better from the Mastercraft "Grey" maximum products. Very disappointed by my favorite store brand.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Can vacuum operate without the bag? The bag does not fill beyond 25%.

A: It does operate without a bag, but in my experience, that just means dirt goes in and some goes out. If you are in the house, can make for an upset homeowner or you choke yourself out with whatever you were cleaning up in the first place. You'll never get the bag 100% full - the vaccuum will be impossible to carry around - but you should be able to open up and gently move dirt out of the way to receive more. There are after-market bags that help cut down the cost. I always use the cartridge when using bags cause the bags sometimes develop small holes and the cartridge catches the fines.

Q: I just bought a Maximum 45L wet dry vac. Started using it and am getting a very strong, chemically odour that smells like something is burning. Also a lose disk in the cylinder around which the filter goes. Is this normal?

A: Not normal. I bought this unit 3 months ago and have used it to collect sawdust in my wood shop - about 10 full loads, and clean up a basement flood with good results. Have to clean the filter often for the sawdust. It replaced a old shopvac that started smelling of burning plastic and on inspection the plastic guard on the fan intake was deformed and rubbing on the fan impeller. Get it replaced before the exchange period runs out. In my experience its been a great unit - and good price.

A: It says it on the box, it takes a Shop Vac one. I recently went to C.T. to find a filter and bags and noticed this.
