Lasted less than a year!

Less than a year later and the locking mechanism stopped working, impossible to align again, the end pieces that grip to the deck post keep coming off. Used many safety 1st products but this one could be malfunctioning or just a bad design overall

The locking mechanism failing and the gate becoming impossible to realigns are not things you should be dealing with, especially after having good experiences with our other Safety 1st products.

Great gate but hard to align

Great gate but really difficult to align correctly when installing! There’s a very small margin of error and the guides that come with it aren’t sufficient. I don’t understand why the screw anchor holes don’t have any room for vertical adjustment, as that’d be the easy fix. I generally consider myself reasonably handy but had to reinstall our first gate three times to get the right alignment, and our second one twice.

This model does require very precise alignment, and you’re right that the margin for error is small. One important detail from the instructions that often gets missed is that the packaging must remain on the gate during installation. Keeping the protective wrap in place helps maintain the correct spacing and alignment while you mount the hardware. Removing it too early can make the process feel much harder than it needs to be. Great gate until it wasn’t

a month ago

This product was great, until it wasn’t. It’s been stumbled onto a few times which caused need for readjustment. Hey, not a problem, I get that. After a while I noticed we were no longer able to latch. That is when I noticed the rubber stoppers were worn through by the adjusting screws and they made large holes in the drywall. Could not fix them and can’t find replacement. The whole gate is useless now.
