Panini Grill Review from TN

Four years ago I received a Breville Panini Press for my Birthday from my sister-in-Law. It was dinged and was being sold in a box as a clearance item. It was my first press and I fell in love with it! Used EVERYDAY for three years. Then the lower grill surface crapped out. No problem, I went to buy a replacement and could not believe the price. So I bought a Cuisinart and six months of daily use and it died. You get what you pay for. So I bought the Breville and paid the price. I am so happy with it. Note that they made changes since four years ago, on/off switch added, legs that prop up to level grill surface for normal grilling, and temperature control. Only one thing I would change is make the grill’s detachable so you can place in dishwasher instead of damp cloth cleaning. But I would by this 3 years of daily use…if I need to. Greater product!

Not as good as previous versions

This is the 3rd of these panini grills that I have bought. To my surpprise, the surface on this one is different. Breville has replaced the old cast iron surface for a non-stick surface that doesn't do the same hiugh quality searing job. Ver disappointing

Poorly designed

As someone that thoroughly enjoyed my first Breville Panini Grill, let me say that this one was a serious disappointment. I can appreciate the larger size, the addtion of an on/off switch, and the decreased weight; but that non-stick coating is an absolute nightmare to deal with.
Regardless of your feelings about non-stick and the chemicals, the fact that the grill surface is so slippery, even after several uses and washes, that food just slides out is ridiculous. I have to face this thing sidways on my counter and place a tray or a plate at the end to catch food that just slowly slides right out. I have to use chopsticks, to keep it in place while I close the press, then slam it down, so it squishes the food in place, to HOPEFULLY, keep it from just sliding out.
However designed that particular feature, should be removed from the design team.
Thoroughly unimpressed. Will not purchase again.

Love the Breville Panini Press

This is my 3rd Breville Panini Press. It’s not my 3rd because there has been something wrong with them. It’s my 3rd because I’ve worn them out over the years. I literally use them for everything; steaks, fish, shrimp, sandwiches, You name it! I highly, highly, highly recommend them. I recommend them so much that I’ve given at least 5 of them as gifts.

A: The vendor has confirmed that there is no Teflon on any of these cooking plates. These are Cast aluminium non-stick.
