Q: Can this be used in a gasoline engine? I have a 2003 Vw New Beetle with the 2.0L 8v engine, and I'm looking for a synthetic oil for my car and several people have recommended this oil to me but it is mainly for iesel engines, can this be used in my car?

A: Lots of hogwash and misinformation below, so much so that I feel compelled to reply to a four year old question. For such a new gasoline engine I would be extremely hesitant to use a heavy duty fleet oil simply due to the much larger amount of phosphorous. The engine protection is of course very good - if your tiny little gasser can pump oil that thick - but the phosphorous from extra ZDDP will kill your emission system a lot faster. For a small gas car of modern design a reputable API SN oil is frequently the best choice. Not all oils are the same so look them up first...

A: The following products can be used for Harley Davidson : Shell Rotella T5 15W-40. An alternate suggestion would be the Shell Rotella T6 5W-40.

Q: would this be a good engine oil for an '06 golf tdi? i am currently using 5w-30 full synthetic but was curious to see if the 5w-40 would have better or worse affect and what the affects of the differnt oil was.

A: I've been using Rotella T6 in my Jetta TDI 2005 PD engine for 3 years. It is fine for this engine. Shell has just not paid for the rights to have the 505.1 spec put on the bottle.

A: I thought T6 only came in 0-40w and 5-40w. Call the 1-800 number for Shell and speak to one of their techs. They will ensure it meets or exceeds your requirements or else they will tell you.

A: The Quaker State Ultimate Durability Full Synthetic Motor Oil products contain less that 1000 ppm zinc. They are not suitable for use in an engine where a minimum of 1200 ppm zinc is required. Rotella T5 10W-30 (synthetic blend) or Rotella T6 5W-40 (full synthetic) both contain just over 1200 ppm zinc, and are recommended for this application. Both products are approved against API SM (for gasoline engines) as well as API CJ-4 (for heavy-duty diesel engines).
