Good portable Jerry Gas Can (Container), does the job.

The cap on my older one plastic gas container deterroriated (it was around 8 yrs old) and I could not find a replacement part that fit properly. Also found it was cheaper to buy a new one than buy all the parts. This is where the Scepter Jerry Gas Container (it is not a Can, it is plastic) worked quite well and was a reasonable price. The old one is still useable for somethings, but to store it with gas required this new one. Worth the purchase.

Questions

1 - 7 of 7 Questions

Q: I read that to seal Scepter can the nozzle but be stuck into the can to get a proper seal. If true this means you have to handle a nozzle that is covered in fuel each time you want to pour some fuel out. Is what I read by one user true???

  • A: Hello Big Al - Your Scepter Gas Can should always be transported in the upright position and well secured. Thank you.

Q: expanding and contracting My cannister expands in the summer and it has been fine but now it looks like it has been run over, it has compressed badly. Is this normal? The product information says self venting, should it be compressing this much?

  • A: "Self-venting" is only when pouring, where it burps and gurgles insufficient quantities of air back into the tank for a painfully slow pour. Your chiropractor will love you for using this product... Once the cap is on, this cheap can will blow up like a beach ball in the heat (don't even think of leaving it in the sun on a hot summer day) and will collapse in on itself in the cold since there is no separate vent cap that can be left just snug to allow small pressure equalizing for the cheap quality of plastic used.

Q: How do I open the child resistant closure..... I have poured gas into my snow blower and would like to close up the can and put it away, the lid has other plans grrrrrrr

1 Answer
  • A: It can be opened and closed by pulling back the tab on the back of the cap, (directly in front of the handle).

Q: Does this flexispout come with the can? It should not! These flexible accordion-type spouts frequently crack, suddenly leaking gasoline all over the place. Just happened to me, and it is NOT the first time! And these spouts are still being sold separately at C-Tire!

1 Answer
  • A: The flexible spout does come standard on Canadian Tire gas can’s, the spout was made to be flexible for easy pouring versus a rigid non bendable spout. The vent on the cans was removed and added to the spout for environmental and health reasons. When the spout is inserted back into the can after use and the cap is tightened, fumes are contained in the can and do not leak out of the gas can. This eliminates gas fumes from leaking into the environment and from people breathing fumes in. Before using the can always remove the cap slowly to vent. Every can manufactured is pressure tested for leaks and meets all CSA standards.
