Great Exercise Aid -especially for seniors in winter.

I bought these walking sticks for half price on Clearance. They give this 78 year old lady the confidence to go out walking this winter as they help greatly with balance while maneuvering along icy and snowy sidewalks. So far, the telescopic function has only collapsed once on one pole - probably, because I no longer have the strength to tighten things as securely as necessary.

Faulty tightening grips on poles

The Outbound "Ascend" poles look good and they were on sale at a good price. However, on the very first use, one of the tightening grips (mid-pole) did not work at all (pole just slid up and down) and the other was impossible to loosen by hand. Bought for an older relative - not good. Returned them.

A: They come with small (3.5" diameter) plates which you can snap on the bottom. If the snow is deep and powdery, you'd probably not be able to lean on them... they'd sink. Good on hard snow, though...
