The first model worked well, I had it for years before it broke down. I replaced it with this model. The first model was shorter, easier to handle and never gave me a problem. The 2nd model had to be brought back as it did not work at all. The second model 2 works sometimes, sometimes you cannot get it on the can, it just won't catch. It is longer and more difficult to handle. They should have left good enough alone or continue to offer both models. I have used my hand crank opener many times since I bought this one, never had tp use it with rhea first model

Great for small lids

This is great for very small lids. It will open even the most stubborn jar/bottle. It won't; however, expand enough for a jam jar.
I had a One Touch Jar Opener that expanded to open large jars and it was exceptional - unfortunately I broke it. It's too bad both models are no longer sold.
