The product on ct website is Not the product you buy at the store with the same product number, But the product you pick up at the store, the picture on the box matches the product in the box. The picture on the website, the sensor is offset to where the lights are, compared to the light in the box at the store which the sensor and lights are in Iine. For some installations, the orientation can be a big problem aiming and adjusting sensor because of the large cones that protect the light bulbs from the weather. I managed to make it sorta work, but was not happy as I already installed it up a 18’ pole and did not want to take it back down. Ct should either change the picture on their website or put the light on the their website in the store.

Hi, thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear that the motion detection range is not meeting your expectations. We understand how frustrating it can be when the light only activates at a very short distance, especially when it's being used for security purposes.

For best performance, this fixture should be mounted no higher than 8 feet above the ground. Installing the sensor above the recommended height can significantly reduce its detection range and overall effectiveness. Motion is also detected most effectively when moving across the sensor's field of view rather than directly toward it.

If the sensor is only detecting movement when you're very close to the fixture, we'd appreciate the opportunity to review the installation and settings with you.

They Do Not Make Them Like They Used To

So many things wrong with this light fixture; I really have nothing good to state about it. This is a shame as it's not easy to find one like this model where I can install my own LED Flood lights now-a-days. Let's start with that this took me nearly 2 hours to install under the soffit on my shed. Simply because the mounting bracket needed to be replaced is side mount only; it has a raised swivel bracket on top of of the bracket portion that screws onto the electrical junction box. The raised portion allows one to mount the Noma fixture via to screws on the sides. I had to take apart the soffit area siding to access the junction box in order to remove the old bracket & replace it with the one that came with the Noma fixture--there was no way to secure the Noma fixture to the existing bracket. In 2010 I had to replace this same location's dead security light, with one I had purchased from Canadian Tir. This fixture used a center mounting bracket like the one I was removing (one screw from the fixture base into the centre of the mounting bracket). Thus it was easy removal of the defective one & easy replacement. This Noma Security light is the complete opposite of an easy install all due to the provided mounting bracket. Once I finally had it installed it was near dusk, so that was at least beneficial since I could configure the sensor settings. This fixture does not have any test option built in, so you must configure it @ dusk/when it is dark. Due to the sensor on this light I wasted another hour trying to get it work 1/10th as well as my old light did. I have the settings nearly at maximum & the.sensor barely works. Time is set to maximum & it only stays on for 2 minutes (not 3 minutes as indicated). Sensitivity is set to max, & Lux set to about 2/3 of the way to max (otherwise it can come on during daylight). Setup like this, I have to be walking "directly toward the sensor" (in the dark) & the lights come on when I'm around 12 to 13 feet away--that's nowhere near the reported 40 feet. It's ability to detect side motion for the sensor is non existent--it's not 180° as noted on the box. I would guesstimate it's more like around 90°, if that. Something else this "security" light does not have isn't way to keep the light on if one wants. All of the other make & models of outdoor security lights we have can be turned to permanent on via the light switch they are connected to. This Noma fixture does not have that option. Lastly, the metal shields to help protect the floodlight bulbs do not snuggly secure into position. I can see small birds landing on the them & loosening them up over time. As soon as I can find a suitable replacement, this Noma Security light will be removed & will go back to Canadian Tire for a refund.

No, I do not recommend this product.

I am not happy with this product. Really cheap and thin materials. Sensor does not trip accurately for detecting movement. I do not recommend.

Q: Can this handle 2 x 120w bulbs or is it 75 watts per bulb

  • A: The guide says it can handle 300W max. It puts out a lot of light and I had to tip them down so they did not shine into Neighbours bedrooms across the green belt. I use Noma PAR38 shape with a E26 base 90 W which uses only 13 W 850 lumens. I can read a book at night at the end of my yard.

  • A: Thank you for your question. This Security Light can accept any BR38 Flood bulb, Incandescent, Halogen, LED or CFL as long as it is outdoor rated. It will indicate on the packaging of the bulb if it can be used for outdoors.

Q: I find that the daytime sensor does not work. The light comes on in daytime when it senses motion. How can I fix this?

  • A: Thank you for your question. The sensitivity can be controlled and in this case likely be set to the lowest setting ( Red for high, green for low, orange for medium). The placement of the item is important. If the item is placed in an area with a lot of shadow, this can trigger the dusk to dawn feature and activate the motion sensor, it is important that the item is in an area with enough sunlight. Please check to ensure nothing is covering the photocell (on the bottom of the motion sensor). This would impede its ability to function properly.
