    Excellent functionality, versatile plugs

I got this primarily as a multiplug option for my many devices, with surge protection a second consideration. What I like about it is that it lies flat, and both rows of sockets are pointing outwards, so bigger or 90 degree plugs/adapters can coexist easily. Not sure if the description mentions it, but there is a little tab next to each socket so it can be switched into the "off" position, occluding the holes and keeping them free from dust or dirt. Clever.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Good, but

Power Bar works well except for the dust covers. They may be usefull but they are also a nuisance and tend to break off if you try to insert a plug before sliding the cover.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: What is the function of in/out phone line? What is the difference between using this product for phone lines and not using it?

    1 Answer
    • A: Anytime equipment is connected to an external source that carries power and/or data it runs the risk of receiving a power surge potentially from an indirect lightning strike or utility problem. Most people assume surges only affect power lines but phone lines, coax cables and internet connections can also be affected. The in/out phone line is there to protect your land line phone and/or your dial up modem in the event of a surge. Please note that no power bar has the ability to protect equipment for a direct lightning strike.

Q: Use with extension cord. Can I plug a 12/3 g extension cord into this surge protector to switch on/off a 15 amp power tool?

    1 Answer
    • A: A 15 amp power tool requires the maximum power a household circuit can supply. A 12 gauge extension cord is the correct cord to use and it should be plugged into the wall directly. Using a power bar will create resistance since the cord from the bar is only 14 gauge which would cause it to overload. Plugging it directly into the wall will also limit the potential to plug in other equipment that will blow the circuit.
