Q: What do I plug this into? Not many desk lamps will handle 250 watts. Maybe we could use a bulb holder then attach to a quick release plate in a photo tripod. The tripod would allow good positioning.

  • A: Honestly, I use it in a well to prevent freezing. It's an old school desktop lamp. I'm probably running the wire hot but it's along a concrete wall and I'm not too worried.

Q: Does the red Noma  250 watt bulb emit infrared rays?

  • A: Canadian Tire says below that "it’s just red visible spectrum, no infrared rays" yet below they say its 380 - 800 nm. And how do you get heat if there are no infrared rays? Some of us are building a little sauna or heat lamp system and need to know if this is the best type of bulb for this or the clear version of this. Is there any difference besides the color? The pricing is a little different.

Q: i have the bulb , where is the lamp this bulb needs a 130v 250w lamp. I have checked your stores left and right and I cannot buy the container for it.

  • A: Any store like HD will have high wattage sockets which you can screw into a board, wall or ceiling. Usually about $1 - $2 each. Just be careful that you don't use thin lamp cord, especially if you are using more than one. The socket is not the worry - its the wire that is often carelessly chosen. I can't believe Canadian Tire doesn't sell them but maybe its too "electrical" and basic. After all they can't stock everything!

Q: What is the infrared light spectrum of this light 600nm, 800nm? The specs are not mentionned anywhere. When it comes to infrared heat lamp, that's the only spec that matters.
