      AMAZING QUALITY!

Not only would I recommended them, I have to 2 other people, sadly I see they are also discontinued. I hope they will replace them with a similar model. Using them without the IR is like looking out on a very very bright moonlit night, you can see everything with a great amount of detail. When you flip on the IR its like a spotlight in the middle of your vision and perfect clarity. I use these to look for lost dogs which will be on the move at night, they would be great for kids to see the nightlife that exists around them, just have to pen a window as glass panes and screens interfere with the view.

      Yes, I recommend this product.

      Questions

      1 - 4 of 4 Questions

Q: what kind of battery? I would like to know what kind of battery the night vision binoculars take?

      • A: They take a lithium type CR123 camera type battery, which is $10 on the low end of pricing. Read my response on battery use. It is very minimal and batteries last along time.

Q: How far can you see? What is the viewing distance or the range?

      2 Answers
      • A: You cannot see all that far as the magnification is only 2x,and the optics are not stellar quality. However, the Intensifier tubes are fairly decent. You are actually looking at set of two vacuum tube surfaces/grids that are emitting and image that was collected on the other end. Like two tiny one tube sensor and display devices. Really neat, when you look into the technology. So you focus the viewing end so that you can focus your eyes on the emission tube surfaces and then that's it, no more focusing can be done, the resolution is tied to the quality of the tubes and the associated pickup and grid display quality. This is Gen 1 technology. Gen II starts at about $2kus, Gen III is about $4k US to start, and Gen IV is off the scale night vision goodness..and starts at about $8k us, and I don't believe it is lawful for them to ship it out of the country (US).

Q: do these work in daylight as regular binoculars do they have a camera function.

      2 Answers
      • A: They do not have camera function, that starts with Gen II devices as they (gen II) have enough light output to get a workable image into a camera. Each is resolution limited as they are all active devices, the pick up an image with an active pickup and then amplify it and send to your eyes through a display device. Gen II starts at about $2k US.

Q: How long do the batteries last?

      1 Answer
      • A: The batteries, even if cold, are going to last a long time. This is because these things work on 'charge', like capacitor, and don't continuously drain the battery. Basically, you touch the button and activate them in a momentary manner. Then the intensifier tubes charge up and discharge very slowly..so you can go/run/use about an easy 2 minutes without touching the power button again. And you only have to hold it on for less than a second again to charge it again. Thus the battery really does not get any use unless you use the infrared light source, which has a separate switch.
