Like all Napoleon® Gourmet Barbecues the Legend LD485 RSIB Natural Gas Grill is packed with premium features. The 740 sq.in. total cooking surface is large enough for big families or big parties. It offers 74,500 total BTUs, including the ceramic infrared side and rotisserie burners and 4 stainless steel tube burners that heat up quickly. The cast iron cooking grates retain heat for fast, efficient cooking and they are porcelain-coated for quick clean ups. It has a JetFire™ electronic ignition for dependable starting.

Lid handle Extremely Hot!

Like the BBQ, but have one concern the handle gets extremely hot, where we have to open it with an oven mitt. The stainless Steele discoloured with the heat, when the lid is open and the plastic side is extremely hot !!

I'm sorry you are running into this issue; the wind may be pushing the heat forward, causing the handle to get hot, we suggest a BBQ shelter to help protect the back of the grill or moving it to a new location. Also cleaning out your drip pan, and sear plates can help eliminate excessive heat. Make sure that the pan is properly installed and pushed back. Q: Is this product made in Canada? I know Napoleon grills are made in Barrie On, but there are some models that are made overseas and sold to big box stores. Is this model made in Canada?

Q: Emily 740 sq. Inches is the total stated. What is the prime cooking area, that is where the grates are. Also since there is a porcelain coating on the grates why do they need to be seasoned. The porcelain coating should protect the cast iron grates.

A: The main cooking area is 485 sq inches (side burner and warming rack make up the additional sq inches). The porcelainized coating helps protect, but it is still recommended you season the cooking grates.

Q: can the side burner be used as a conventional side burner Although labelled as a asear burner for searing foods, are you able to use as conventional burner ie boil a pot a water for potatoes, corn etc.

A: Yes for sure. I have used to fry onions using a teflon pan. The grill cover has two settings - low setting for using as a regular side burner, and high setting for searing meats.

Q: What is the primary cooking area of the napoleon legend. Also some websites say not to season cast iron grates if they already have a porcelain coating. Your thoughts are appreciated.

A: Primary Cooking Surface: 740 sq.in They absolutely require that they are seasoned regularly with a high saturated fat to ensure that they do not rust.

Q: Why does Napoleon's brochure and your own video show it has I-Glow controls, yet the ones in store here have big clunky non - lighted controls?

A: Our current Legend RSIB has blue knobs, they do not glow. The older Legend models, 2014 and prior did come with the I-glow control knobs.

Q: What is the benefit to having stainless steel grills vs the cast iron grills I currently have cast iron grills and really like them. I'm just wondering why people want stainless steel.

A: Hi Lynder, That is the age old debate cast iron vs. stainless steel. Many people love the cast iron because of the way it retains the heat. However, there is a lot more maintenance required with cast iron cooking grills. They absolutely require that they are seasoned regularly with a high saturated fat to ensure that they do not rust. Stainless steel cooking grills on the other hand require a lot less maintenance. They will discolor with the heat but that is to be expected.
