Good tool at 60$, Downgrade from all-metal handle

At 60$ it is hard to beat on price, though 1 year warranty is laughable. It is a downgrade from the knurled all-metal handle of the previous generation. Especially since the plastic of these tools tends to leach and become sticky...

Really solid and easy to use

I change my tires each season on my camper-van myself. They need 160 ft.lb. of torque and this is about the limit of my strength, so I felt there was no need for a torque wrench. Wrong. When talking to a mechanic about this he said I would be so sorry if I did not use a torque wrench. My muscle strength varied a lot from time to time. I got this wrench on sale and it was good value. It is easy to use and even showed me how I over torqued my tires last time I changed them. This risks damaging the wheel assembly and running up expensive repairs. It is not just about under-torquing them and risking having them fall off.

Q: I have never used a torque wrench before this is the first one. I don’t know how to use this because when I try to tighten by turning clockwise it does not tighten it just clicks and clicks like a ratchet on reverse. How do I reverse this?

  • A: I'm not sure if you got my reply to cancel this question. I submitted this question to the wrong product. Anyways, my issue was resolved by one of the consumers. The manual for the one I purchased was inaccurate.

Q: Why does the wrench discrimination state 50-250lbs yet the wrench itself is stamped right down to 30lb ?

1 Answer
  • A: It is my opinion that if you use such a massive torque wrench that low it will not be accurate. I would recommend getting a smaller wrench to do smaller torque’s.

Q: The yellow cap on the end of the handle on my Maximum 1/2” torque wrench went missing. Will this affect the torque settings? Can Canadian Tire replace/supply this part?

1 Answer
  • A: The torque wrench will continue to maintain functionality without that gray color end cap. Do NOT adjust the internal screw visible inside the end cap hole, which relates to the calibration/accuracy of the unit.
