Q: This solenoid doesn't come with nuts for the 2 posts. Will I have to add them before installation? One of the nuts on my old solenoid is quite rusty and corroded and can't be removed and transfered to this new one.

A: Thank you for reaching out to us. You will need to install 2 new nuts if yours are that corroded. These are just basic 1/4-20 nuts that should be available at your local hardware store.

Q: I have a older John Deere STX38 yellow deck Mower is this compatible , would it work on mine ? To the best of my knowledge this unit has a Negative ground and 15 amp charging if I read the specs. right with a Kohler engine

A: The MTD Tractor solenoid is a 4-post. Large terminal (from battery Positive) Other Large Terminal (to Starter Motor) Small Terminal marked ‘S’ (Start) for same colour wire as on the back of the keyswitch for the ‘S’ terminal (often yellow) Other Small Terminal is a ground, so the ‘spade’ connector goes to the Solenoid and the other ‘hoop’ connector to one of the mounting bolts that holds the solenoid onto the tractor body (steel). Does the John Deere have a 4-post? If so, it will work.

A: 60-7533 is a 3 terminal solenoid with universal style mounting and will fit most 12-volt starters. It may fit some Craftsman riders as long as they require a 3 terminal solenoid and the mounting holes line up correctly.
