      Cheap adjustable temperature kettle

On sale, OK for the money if you really need adjustable temperature. Otherwise don't bother. Pros Adjustable heating temp, with secondary adjustable "keep warm" temp. Adjustable "rolling boil" timer. Temperature display is back-lit & easy to read. Narrow footprint takes less counter space. Cons No insulation at all. No spout cover. Water cools off very quickly Terribly designed spout for pouring. The scale filter makes it even worse. Honestly how could anyone screw this up?? Difficult to see the water level through the indicator. The INSIDE of the kettle is also brushed aluminium, making it hard to clean. Conclusion: The adjustable temperature was not as useful to me as I thought it would be. It was not worth the compromise. The spout design really is that bad. I would not buy it again.

No, I do not recommend this product.

      Kettle lid clamp

This nice stainless steel kettle was given to us as a gift. After two years the plastic or Bakelite lid clamp broke into pieces and floated in the water.

      Great kettle

We bought this kettle 3 years ago! Worked perfectly until today. We never had any issues. We have small kids in the house and we needed a lot of boiling water. Yes, the screen might be a little bit small, but you can hear if it finished boiling or not. We are definitely getting the same one again.

      Yes, I recommend this product.

This kettle does not shut off

The kettle does not turn off once it reaches boiling. We suspect it's because we live at a higher elevation and water boils below 100 degrees C. Since you can only set the temperature in 5 degree increments, 95 is too low to get a rolling boil and 100 can't be reached. We will be returning it

No, I do not recommend this product.

Amazing product, ignore the negative reviews

As the title says, this thing is absolutely amazing. For the past years I've been buying relatively cheaper kettles and decided to go big for once; I was not let down. It's got a bright LED display that you can see clearly even in daylight conditions, it swivels in a 360' on its base, the chord is long enough that you can plug it in and have it anywhere within arms reach of the plug. It boils quickly and efficiently, with a few button options that take literally 10 seconds to understand with the manual including temperatures from 40' to 100' and timers to keep it at a certain temperature for up to half an hour (From 40' to 90') and lengthening the time the water boils once it has reached 90-100'. People who say they have difficulty telling when it's turned on might need glasses, as I have some and can still tell from the blinking LED whether or not it's on from across the room. It also makes a slight buzzing noise right as it turns on, and the fact you pressed the power button is also a relatively good indicator. People getting rusted springs within the first six months were unlucky as I've owned mine for 8 months now using it 6-7 times a day and my only problem with the entire kettle is that now I have to press the button once or twice extra sometimes (Maybe once every 5 uses) as the latch button has come out of place slightly and doesn't always unhook. I would recommend this to anyone, though as the other reviews do passively mention you share a small chance of getting a defective one. Keep in mind people spend more time writing negative reviews about stuff that is broken than positive reviews about stuff they're too busy enjoying.

      Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Why won't the Moulinex 1.7l Kettle shut off? I just bought this kettle. The kettle will not automatically shut off at the preset 100 degrees Celsius. Why?

      • A: Calgary has elevation more than 1 km above sea level. Water on such altitude would boil at about 95C. Try to set 95C as a shut off temperature.

Q: Can I exchange it even though the receipt and packaging is long gone? I love my kettle that I received on Mother's Day but it has developed rust on the interior bottom which I am concerned about. I know it was purchased at Canadian Tire I just didn't keep the receipt.

Q: Is there any plastic in contact with the water? (is window glass?) I need to know if there is plastic in the reservoir. I don't want plastic toxins. BPA free or otherwise it's still heated plastic & while there are few studies on BPA free plastic, some indicate it may be just as bad.

      1 Answer
      • A: There is a small, BPA free, plastic piece used to measure the water capacity, that comes in contact with the water.
