Don't buy the M12 underhood light. Get this!

Purchased while marked as Clearance for $70 (from $220 CDN). I have a lot of Milwaukee tools, and always thought the M12 underhood light was nice, but it's way too pricey for me at $270 CDN tool only. I don't have any M12 batteries so that would have added even more to the cost.
This is an excellent alternative! The Motomaster light advertises 1300 lumens of brightness while the Milwaukee has 1350. This light is also dual-powered - it comes with a cord so you can plug it into the wall if you don't have a PWRPOD battery. It also comes with a tripod that you can mount the light to, so that you can set it up as an area light. The hooks can extend nice and wide to fit most hoods, and they are well designed with a soft rubber coating to prevent damaging the hood. It's a very good alternative even at $220, but at $70 it's a no brainer IMO.

Garbage do not waste your $

Absolute garbage, I suspected this would be a waste of money but thought, what the heck, maybe motomaster lighting has gotten better over the years. NOPE. Still the same old junk just more expensive. Surprising how little light comes out of this thing and the battery dosent last, light starts dimming after 30-45 mins.the silly little bungee hooks that “hold onto your hood” were made by fisher price, the thing slipping all over the place fell off multiple times, ended up using mechanic wire to keep it there 😖. (They don’t let you give it -5 stars or it would be.)

Terrible battery life

Very bright light. I was impressed when I first started using it.
After less than a year of occasional use, it now dies after about 25 minutes on low brightness and takes nearly 6 hours to recharge.
Cannot be used while charging.
Dissatisfied.

Works decent when charged, but overall a hassle

This product can be summarized best as being outdated. Uses micro-usb b to charge, which is fine, but as others have pointed out it cannot be used while charging. While this normally wouldn't be a huge issue, the short battery life and the inefficiency of the usb b means you spend more time charging it then actually using it. It also seems to lose its charge pretty quickly while not being used which also doesn't help. Personally I would not buy this unless you find it on sale, and even then I would suggest having a different second light you can use as a compliment to this one or for when it runs out of battery.
No, I do not recommend this product.
