Charge !

Not sure that this should be necessary ? But upon getting the battery home I checked the existing charge on the battery and found it to be only 75% . I charged it ( slow trickle) back up to 100 % . One week later my latest check shows it back at 75% charge . It has yet to be installed and before I return it to CTC could someone tell me if this is normal for a brand new battery ?

Thank you for your feedback. If you're relying on the battery charger to tell you the charge level %, then that probably explains it. A battery will naturally self-discharge but what % you see from a charger depends on what voltage thresholds the charger manufacturer sets. For instance, some may call set 12.5V as 75% while others might call it 85%. Or a different scenarios is the battery could be at 12.58V and just shy of the 12.6V that some chargers consider 100%. (Despite the 75% reading, my guess is that the battery came to full charge rather quickly.) As a rule of thumb, you're better of relying on the actual voltage reading the charger provides rather than the %. Just know that your MotoMaster OEPLUS battery is manufactured by one North America's most reputable battery manufacturers. If you've got a few batteries in the household, consider investing a few dollars in a battery tester (like MotoMaster 011-3020). They are super simple to use and very accurate, so not only will you know battery voltage but also available CCA and internal resistance.

So far so good. My last one lasted from 2017 until now.(I added the pic of that as well} So hopefully this one lasts just as long. I always keep it on a tender over winter in a heated shop. Seems to help big time.

Thanks for the feedback. We noticed your previous battery was a Group Size U1 and the new one is a Group Size U1R. Those batteries are identical except that the + and - posts are opposite. Just wanted to highlight that in case you accidentally got the wrong one!

  • A: Stores in all provinces except Ontario are accepting cores per normal. Ontario stores are closed for in-store shopping due to COVID-19 and thus are currently not accepting battery cores. As soon as Ontario stores are allowed to re-open (which is the provincial gov't decision), you will be able to return your old battery for core credit.
