  • Sealed and non-spillable mean no messy or dangerous acid spills, no gassing (under normal charging) and can be mounted in virtually any position

  • Maintenance-free: Never requires water to be added

  • Group size: 27

  • 900 marine cranking amps, 92 amp hours, 175 minutes reserve capacity

    Doesn’t last

Bought in 2021 for my electric trolling motor. I read that if properly maintained, it can last over 7 years. So I charged it regularly with a smart marine charger. Trickle charged it over the winter. And in the 4 years I’ve had it, I’ve used it for trolling about a dozen times. 4 years later and it can only charge up to 75% and it’s dead after 4 days without using it. With these batteries, you don’t pay for what you get.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Tested exceptionally well

I tested this battery with a battery stress tester after purchase and it rated as "excellent" condition. Have had these before and they are bullet proof.

Had to replace the battery in our trailer this year. Motormaster battery outlasted our 4 day non electric site with power to spare. Very happy with this product .

Q: I live in NewBrunswick temps get down to -25 or colder.  Will it be ok if I leave this battery in my trailer the winter if I have it connected to a battery maintainer?

    3 Answers
    • A: It should be okay as long as you have a trickle charger on it.

Q: RE MOTOMASTER NAUTILUS AGM Group Size 27 Battery - what is the expected voltage range at percentage capacity? IE when 100% and when 50% in particular. Voltage range that should not be lower than for permanent damage?

    2 Answers
    • A: Hello, for this Group 27 AGM battery, 12.8V would be 100% state of charge. 12.3V would be 50% state of charge.12V would be 25% state of charge. Ideally, charging at 50% state of charge is best, it puts less wear and tear on the battery and by doing so, should prolong the life of the battery.

Q: I just bought an AGM 27, with 900 mca and 175 res min. I've been trying to top it up with a nautilus smart charger, before installing and cannot get it to stay over 90%? It charges to 100% but when I disconnect and reconnect it goes back to 90%?

    • A: What equipment are you using to get your percentage readings? Either battery is bad or your meter is bad. Best to confirm with voltage reading. Not a cheap percentage meter.

    • A: According to everything I’ve read about these types of batteries, yes, they can be mounted in any position!

Q: What is the recommended temperature compensation in millivolts per degree Celcius?

    1 Answer
    • A: To compensate for battery temperature not at 25°C, subtract 0.003 V/cell (so 0.018V for this 6-cell battery) for each 1°C above 25°C; add 0.003 V/cell (again, 0.018V for this 6-cell battery) for each 1°C under 25°C. Do not compensate beyond 35°C or below 15°C.

Q: House batteries for sailboat no starting (pull-start outboard) just low-current draw nav system fan lights etc total about 6A. Planning 250-320 Ah charge from solar & outboard alternator. CT website inconsistent, which line of AGM will be most suitable ?

    1 Answer
    • A: It is unclear what you mean by which line of AGM will be most suitable. Canadian Tire offers MotoMaster Nautilus AGM as well as MotoMaster Nautilus Extreme AGM with the latter being a high performance AGM product. Certainly an AGM battery is an excellent choice for your application for a number of reasons, not the least of which are it's sealed, spill-proof construction and their faster charge acceptance. It's simply a matter of what size (capacity) and how many batteries you need based on your desired usage (load and duration) and charging parameters (current and time).

Q: We just bought this battery to power our Minn Kota Endura Max trolling motor. The motor came with a 5A charger (the MK 105PD). I’m thinking a 5A charger will take forever to charge this battery. What charger would you recommend for faster recharging?

    1 Answer
    • A: A 5A charger is adequate. Depending how much you take out of the battery (i.e. level of discharge), you’re probably looking at about 8-12 hours to fully recharge. A charge current of about 10-15A would be ideal. 30A max.

Q: i have 2 flooded lead type batteries in my boat and 1 battery needs replaced. can i replace 1 battery with the agm style and if so ,will my onboard charger work to charge 2 different type batteries ?

    1 Answer
    • A: If your two batteries run independently of one another, this is fine. If your two batteries are connected in parallel or series, you should not mix. You will have to check with the onboard battery charger manufacturer (or manual) to understand whether it is compatible with AGM batteries. Most are.
