Q: Would this grease be suitable for CV Joints?

    1 Answer
    • A: For CV joints, the boot compatibility with the grease is a big concern. If the CV is still OEM, it is very unlikely that the grease is compatible with the boot material. It could potentially dry up and harden or soften too much. If it is an aftermarket CV joint, lithium complex moly greases are pretty common. The Motomaster Moly grease should mechanically perform fine, but the compatibility with the boot material is unknown without actually testing.

Q: Ford manual specify to use moly grease in CV joints. Would it be ok to use this product?

    1 Answer
    • A: Constant Velocity Joints (CVJs) are surrounded by an elastomer boot to contain the grease and seal out contaminants. These boots can be manufactured with many different elastomer combinations. The boot material must be compatible with the grease or the boot could become brittle and crack or it could become soft and sag. Without extensive testing of the specific boot and the grease, we cannot recommend a product be used for lubricating CVJs.

Q: What percentange of the grease is Moly? What concentration is this grease? For a lot of motorcycle drive shaft applications, it is recommended to use at least 60% moly grease. Would this meet that standard?

    1 Answer
    • A: This product (28-0851) contains 1% Moly. Apparently, Honda does have a product with 60% Moly, however this product would not meet the same specifications as that grease.

Q: compare Moly Extreme Pressure Grease and Motomaster wheel bearing and chassis grease I would like to grease the ball joints on my jeep, which product is the best to use for the application, Moly Extreme Pressure or Motomaster wheel bearing and chassis grease?

    1 Answer
    • A: We would recommend the use of the Motomaster Wheel Bearing and Chassis Grease based on its NLGI Service Classification of GC-LB which is required to meet automotive and light duty truck wheel bearing and chassis lubrication. The Motomaster Moly Extreme Pressure Grease does not carry this service classification.
