Only got a year of use out of it before it stopped working
4 years ago
It did work great for the 1st year, but it has since stopped being able to hold up any load. Can't return now that it's > 1 year old. I think the piston seals are shot. I only used it about twice a year, but I store it in an unheated shed throughout winter (freeze conditions) - not sure if this is a problem. I wouldn't recommend it.

Lifted my F150 without any issues. Seems heavy enough for home use. I will update if any problems occur over time.

Q: +Is this jack serviceable?
Oil leaking over the floor would seem to be a common problem especially if the jack is used often. Is it possible to open the cylinder to change o-rings or seals and are these parts available from Canadian Tire? Thanks

A: No, this is a disposable product. When it fails it is more than just seals.

Q: How to replace the hydraulic fluid? I can only find the fill hole.

A: Jack oil should only need to be fully replaced if there is reason to believe it is contaminated. Otherwise, a top up should be sufficient for most maintenance events. If you would still like to replace the oil: open the pump release valve using the handle (as you would to lower the jack); open the fill hole plug; invert the jack over a drain pan and allow the oil to drain from the fill hole; pump the jack for a few cycles to purge remaining oil from the system. Once fully drained, turn the jack upright and fill the jack with oil. Pump the jack for a few cycles to purge any air, top off the oil, and replace the fill plug.

Q: release too fast??
I picked this up and it seems that you cant control the speed of the release. It releases/lowers the car quite fast.
Is this normal for this jack?

A: You are probably opening the release valve too much. a 1/4 turn or less is all that you need.

Q: Is it possibly to fix the speed lift?
My jack still works it just doesn't lift up to the axle as fast as it used to. I'm wondering if there is a way to fix this.

A: Sounds like it may be either low on oil or jack has been subject to a rough rolling surface causing oil to airate.
Add more Hydraulic oil and allow air to bleed out over night and re-check
If problem persists, one of the pump valves may have a cracked O-ring and require replacement.
Ask a Canadian Tire representitive if service kit is available if warranty has expired.

Q: How many pumps does it take to get to max. height under load?
... assume any normal midsize car/truck is being lifted...

A: Speed-lift only works when not under load, do not expect this to be a fast jack. Number of pumps depends on how far you pump the arm, which depends on space and how much you want to bend. I would say on average a good 30 pumps to get it to max.

Q: How does this jack lower the vehicle. Not asking the mechanism but how slow does it let your vehicle down? I got the big red recently and was alarmed by how violently it let my vehicle down. Wondering if this is any better

1 Answer
A: In order to lower the vehicle safely it is important to turn the jack handle slowly for a controlled release.
