MotoMaster Galvanized Trailer, 5-ft x 7-ft

Although this trailer is listed as a MotoMaster model, it’s actually manufactured by DK2 (model MMT5X7G). You can find the same model at other major retailers, but unlike Canadian Tire, many of them more accurately describe it as a 4.5' x 7.5' trailer. Even that is a bit generous—once assembled, the actual usable interior dimensions are approximately 50.75” x 85” (with both front and rear gates up), which is significantly smaller than the advertised 5' x 7'. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize this at the time of purchase. At our local Canadian Tire, the utility trailers were stored on top of large shipping crates outside, and accessing them required staff assistance and a forklift. We asked the sales associate to confirm that the trailer had a true 5' x 7' interior, and they assured us it did. Because the store was closing soon—and knowing we’d need to register and insure the trailer before taking it—we trusted the associate’s word and paid for it. After getting the insurance sorted and returning to pick up the trailer, we noticed it looked smaller than expected but didn’t have a tape measure on hand. Again, we gave the benefit of the doubt and took it home. Once home, we measured and were surprised (and disappointed) to find the trailer was nowhere near 5 feet wide. We contacted the store the next day and returned to explain the issue, especially noting that another trailer they sell (also advertised as 5' x 7') does have a true 5' x 7' interior. Had we known the MotoMaster trailer was smaller, we would’ve purchased the other one instead. Despite pointing this out, the store staff refused to offer any resolution. Now we’re stuck with a trailer that doesn’t suit our needs. In addition to the misleading sizing, this trailer has a couple of design flaws: - No tie-down points are included, meaning you’ll need to modify it if you plan to secure loads properly. - The license plate mount is poorly placed—it will likely scrape or bend the plate approaching an incline steeper than about 10%.

Bought this small utility trailer in April 2025. Very satisfied with it. It was on special for $1899.99. It was already assembled so I didn't have to fuss around with assembly, in a small garage by myself. Make sure to check that all the nuts and bolts, including wheel nuts are all to spec. Torque the wheel nuts to 80 ft/lb. I was initially considering the painted black one sold at Rona, but there was already signs of rust on the edges. It was at the same price as the reduced galvanized. Perfect size for what I want to do. Handles very well on the road as well. Make sure it is level to the ground. Replace the receiver hitch if need be. I recommend!

I am so disappointed. I purchased this trailer a few days ago. Today when I was using it I noticed that the left front side marker light screw was ready to fall out. On the trip home I heard a sound. When I looked in the mirror smoke was coming from the right wheel. The fender had come loose and was shreading the tire. When I got home I realized that the bolt that had fallen out for the fender also secured the leaf spring!!! The trailer is unsafe to use.
