Product Details

The MotoMaster 12V Digital Battery Tester/Analyzer is an essential tool for evaluating the condition of batteries in a wide range of vehicles. This tester is designed to provide an accurate and reliable assessment of battery health without the risk of damage. The user-friendly backlit LCD display supports seven languages and eliminates the need for additional batteries, making it convenient for anyone to use.

  • Ideal for analyzing the health of batteries in cars, trucks, boats, RVs, lawn tractors, motorcycles, ATVs, farm equipment and more

  • Simple to use with pro-level accuracy - know the health of your battery before it fails to help avoid being stranded by an unexpected dead battery

  • Test results provide battery voltage, % charge, available CCA, internal resistance and state of health (Good, Good & Recharge, Charge & Retest or Replace)

  • For all 12V lead-acid batteries from 100 to 2000 CCA, including Regular (flooded/wet), flat plate AGM, spiral grid AGM, EFB and Gel

  • Safer than traditional battery testers that apply a load; instead it sends a safe, low frequency electrical signal to read the conductive state of the battery

  • Includes modes for testing vehicle charging system and starting system performance, including alternator ripple and crank time

  • Compact and portable design, perfect for home mechanics and on-the-go assessments

Seems to be a decent tester (on sale) for your vehicle battery and charging system. The manual print is small font but I'd recommend DLing the manual and save to file for ease of reading and future use. Also, CT should have a Youtube reviewer do a review and also a short "how to" with this tester.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    • A: First, double-check to ensure you have good clamps connection to the battery. Second, note that the battery must have a least 8V to test / turn on the tester. If unsure, check battery voltage with a voltmeter and ensure it's above 8V. If not, charge the battery first.

Q: The 12V battery in my NX350h is located in the trunk and is somewhat difficult to access. Can I run the tester from under the hood by connecting the positive clamp to the jump-start terminal and the negative clamp to a suitable ground point on the chassis

    2 Answers
    • A: No. My Escape also has its battery in the trunk under the spare. The tester does not work with the under hood jump-start terminal & ground point. It needs to connect directly to the battery.

Q: Will it analyze a deep cycle flooded battery?

    1 Answer
    • A: This tester can be used for a flooded deep cycle battery. It will assess MCA and resistance to determine the health of the battery. If it fails, your battery is bad and should be replaced. However, what it cannot do is measure the capacity of a deep cycle battery. (There are no battery testers that will assess a battery's deep cycle capacity - at least not ones that cost less than a few thousand dollars). You simply have to compare how long it runs a load compared to how long it should run that load if the battery was new. Make sure you've fully charged the battery and allowed it to rest for 12 hours. Test the capacity of the battery by applying a known load and measuring the time it takes to discharge the battery until 20% capacity is remaining (i.e. 12.00V). For example, if you have an 80-ampere-hour rated battery, then a load of four amps would discharge the battery down to 20% in about 16 hours. In this example, if your battery drains down to 20% in about 8 hours (compared to the 16 hours it should take when new) then your battery is only capable of 50% of its rated capacity. That's bad and should be replaced. Rule of thumb is that once a deep cycle battery can only delivery less than 50% of its rated Ah capacity, it’s time to replace it. If it's a critical application, you should replace the battery once it can delivery only 75% of it's original capacity.

Q: When doing cranking test it only displays RPM detected

    1 Answer
    • A: When the Cranking Test is selected the screen will prompt you to ensure the engine is off. Press Enter and you will be prompted to Start Engine. Under cranking, RPM Detected will be displayed momentarily, followed by Testing momentarily... and finally the test results. You must have a good battery to do the Cranking and Charging System tests so be sure to do Battery Test first.
