Defective, don't buy!

Despite reading the bad reviews, I decided to take a chance since it was on clearance. That was a mistake. Just as others have said, the switch is defective. The light turns on as soon as the batteries are installed and you cannot turn it off. So it's not just a matter of getting the odd defective unit, they are all defective! Waste of my time.

The on and off switch did not work. Once the batteries were installed the light came on and nothing else worked. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Never worked like the description.

The unit was in clearance Now I know why It's very hard to turn on then it will not turn off The flashing safety function on the light does not work at all I did have one of the same that I bought a year ago No problem Guess I got a defective unit Hoping I can return it to the store

Good product

I run a dog rescue and use this for after-dark yard cleaning duties. It provides a great amount of light on full batteries, even on nearly dead ones there was enough light for me to see the land mines before stepping in them. Battery life isn't great, but I use it a lot. Fits comfortably and I'm able to aim the light where I need it (and it actually stays there). Unit lasted me almost exactly two years (Christmas 2013 to December 2015) before one of my dogs got a hold of it. Will be buying another one today to replace it.

Great Spot

Bought to use mainly while working on basement renovations and occasional car maintenance. Seems solid and well made. There is a separate switch for the rear-facing red flashing LED's, which is good. But, the beam is a very narrow spot - I measured it as approximately 10cm wide at a distance of 1m, so about 6° diameter, which for my purposes is way too narrow. The spot is very bright (package says 130 lumens). A very small amount of light (~1%?) shines wider but it is so dim you can only see it in near darkness. I will be returning this one to get the slightly cheaper focusing model.

A: Yes, it is hinged to allow for vertical up and down adjustment. Of course you can always adjust the entire unit on your head for horizontal adjustments.
