JUNK!!

Worst set of crimpers I have ever used

Sized incorrectly- see pic

Great concept for one handed work but the crimp sizing is off. Too often wires fall out of a crimped connector. Compare the 22-18 ga wire holes on the tool with the old style crimper. Much bigger. The old style tool destroys connectors if you don't back off on the pressure applied. However it is a more secure connection. With the ratcheting crimper I have ruined a lot of connectors having rewired 2 boat trailers and 2 box trailers. If the crimping plates could be adjusted, this would be a 5 star tool. Check out the pic and you will see the issue. For marine wire connectors, I would use the Motomaster Heat shrink solder butt connectors. Pricey but worth it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Good crimper for the price

Works great if you use it correctly. The wire needs to be on the side with the colored dots. The crimper should have a set of instructions. It would also be great if you could change the crimping plates so that's why I'm only giving it 4 stars.

Works as should

Great tool, works as intended and repeatable. Can be that helping hand needed to hold the connector, once you have wire inserted just squeeze and voila solid connections.

Q: Are different jaw types available I see that the standard jaws are removable. are the different jaw types available for specialty terminals?

  • A: Dear LuckyXIII; Please let me elucidate upon the reply given by our Hosts. The jaws on this unit are replaceable (if you can find a supplier for the jaws - perhaps from CT?) as a direct replacement for the existing jaws. You can not get different configurations. Electrical crimping primer 101 - The three crimper jaws that this unit comes with (Yellow, Blue, Red are recognized industry standards) will cover ANY household, automotive, marine, motorcycle, lawn tractor, snowmobile, ATV or just about anything else that you can think of. Wire gauge #10 is heavier than most 'outdoor' extension cord #hopefully #12# and the #20 is lighter than you will ever need unless you are doing circuit boards or other electronic applications - in which case you will want specialized tools. This unit will suffice for 99% of what the normal homeowner will ever need. If you are using a crimping tool - that in itself implies a specific requirement since you can not use it for house wiring - then you are doing wiring on your lawn tractor, tent trailer, boat, motorcycle etc. and this is an excellent tool for the job.

Q: Do these work on heat shrink connectors. I see the question was already asked and replied to by someone who had no clue

  • A: Hey There, This ratchet action crimp tool is for insulated terminals 22-10 AWG. Typically for vinyl or nylon insulation. You may be able to use this on heat shrink terminals, but we don’t recommend it. Thanks and Regards, CTC Team

Q: Hoping to confirm operation. Should the crimp connector opening / wire end be on the left side of the tool? IE the wire goes in where the coloured numbers are? Also wondering whether the crimp connector should be facing up or down for best results.

1 Answer
  • A: Correct the wire end should be on the left side of the tool where the coloured numbers are. For best results I would recommend the connector being face up.

Q: Peut-on sertir les connecteurs Sub-D et Open barrel (canon ouvert) ?

Translate with Google
1 Answer

Q: Is there a way to calibrate this? When I make a crimp, the wire just pulls out of the connector, after the handle springs open (so, yes, the crimp is finished — I can’t squeeze it any tighter).
