    Consider investing in alternative product

I purchased this product in 2006 and had it for 14 fantastic years of consistent and wonderful use . When the fan gave out on the 2006 model, I did not hesitate to replace with same model. After 4 months of intermittent use the fan on the new one gave out - okay it happens. I replaced the 4 month old one and began using cooler number 3. After less than 48 hours of cooling, the fan died. Clearly this product is not what it used to be. I didn't have a bad thing to say about the 2006 version and I don't have a good thing to say about the 2020 version. I didn't abuse the 2020 versions, I just filled them half full and tried to use. CT was great about refunding my original purchase price but I was frustrated by 2 failed efforts to get a reliable cooling/heating product

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Garbage

It worked ok for the first season, but stopped cooling or heating quickly. Was advised that it would cost more to repair than to replace. Needless to say I won't be replacing with the same. This is now an additional piece of plastic garbage

Worst thing I have every purchased

I bought this last week and after opened the box I opened the little lid and its plastic hinge broke off. I glues it together hoping things would be ok. Then the first time I tried to move the unit with the pull handle it broke off totally as soon as I lifted it up. After closing the bigger lid the switch fell out.

Q: Is it all right to use the cooler as an extra refrigerator at home? Is there any danger in it running day and night?

    • A: Burned out, or blew a fuse? There is a fuse in the 12V cord. I recently needed to replace it. Canadian Tire does not sell replacement fuses. Found at Source (former Radio Shack)

Q: Can it keep food warm fand for how long? Thanks Say, If I cook beef chilli and put it in this device and go for a long drive and have the chillis 12 hours after. will i find the foods warm or as hot when I put it in this device? Thanks

    • A: On the “HOT” setting, the temperature inside the cooler can reach a maximum of +65C. The “cooler” can be used to keep foodstuff hot for an extended period of time. For best results, use the cooler with the Mobicool Universal AC/DC indoor adaptor (CTC # 37-0149). The adaptor can be used to connect the unit to household current (110v) and heat up the cooler before putting the container with the food inside the unit. It can also be used during stop-over at a hotel etc.

Q: Will it keep frozen food frozen for 3 or 4 hours? Thinking about buying this for transporting groceries from supermarket when shopping in city - mostly to keep frozen items frozen. Would possibly be looking at 3 to 5 hours in travel & shopping time.

Q: Can the cooler be left outside even in the rain

    1 Answer
    • A: This is an electrical cooler. To prevent damage to the electrical components, the cooler should be protected from moisture, especially rain. Any moisture inside the cooler, should be wiped up to prevent damage. It is possible to store ice cubes in the cooler, but they should be placed in a sealed container / zip bag.
