It's much better than an entry-level detector; fun to use and quite accurate. The batteries don't last long, even though I use the headphones. I like the quality of it and it's capabilities.

Q: Is the bottom waterproof for putting in creeks to find gold?

  • A: “For these “VANQUISH” Models, they are waterproof up to the control box.” Meaning, once you get up to underneath the control box, that is as far as it can go in water. The control box is not waterproof; therefore it cannot be submerged in or under water.

Q: will it detect a Cable TV wire 6-12 inches under ground?

  • A: I have never used it for that specific purpose, but as long as the line is ferromagnetic, it will work.

Q: Why is this listed as waterproof? It is not. All metal detectors can be submerged up to the control box, the waterproof models can be totally submerged and no worries in rain. This is Misleading.. just looking out for new detectorists. Thanks

  • A: Duhhhhhh it is waterproof up to the control box!! If you expect to get a 100% waterproof for this price you are nuts! Expect to pay $1500
