Metabo HPT 18V 4-1/2-in HXP Pro Slide Grinder, Tool Only

Does the job quite well, much easier than a corded one.

The Metabo HPT G18DSL2Q4 18V Cordless Angle Grinder has proven to be an excellent tool for a variety of garage and home improvement tasks. I first used this grinder on a welding job, where it did an impressive job grinding down old welds before a new repair. The grinder’s performance was smooth and effective, and it adjusted seamlessly to the materials I was working with. For instance, when cutting through lighter materials like aluminum, the grinder slows down automatically to conserve battery life, while it ramps up when working with tougher materials like steel. This variable speed feature is one of the standout aspects of the G18DSL2Q4, especially compared to other grinders in the same class. Its ability to adjust based on the material's demand makes it much more efficient and versatile. Another area where the grinder shines is in safety and ease of use. The quick-off switch and anti-restart protection make it much safer to handle than many other models, especially when inserting a battery or turning the grinder off in a hurry. However, the on/off switch can be a bit finicky, though this is something I quickly adjusted to with regular use. Despite the minor inconvenience with the switch, the grinder is very comfortable to hold, thanks to its ergonomic design and soft grip handle, reducing hand fatigue even during extended use. It’s also lightweight at just 3.5 lbs, which adds to its usability for a variety of tasks. The Metabo HPT G18DSL2Q4 is particularly useful for cutting rebar, grooving stone, or grinding metal and masonry around the home or garage. One of the major highlights is the battery life when paired with the 8AH battery, which lasts longer than expected for tasks like cutting concrete or grinding down heavy metal. In terms of design, the compact size of the grinder makes it easy to use in tight spaces or narrow areas, making it ideal for those home improvement projects that require precise control. While the grinder delivers ample power for most tasks, I do wish it had just a little more torque, especially when working with tougher materials or tasks that require more power. However, the Metabo HPT G18DSL2Q4 still performs admirably in most garage and home projects and is a great addition to anyone’s tool collection. It offers great value for its price, especially when compared to other brands like Makita. Overall, it's a reliable, efficient grinder that gets the job done with ease, and its performance has made it a favorite in my toolbox for various tasks around the house.

Exceeding my expectations with this Metabo grinder. I use it to sharpen my mower blades with a flex abrasive disk. Highly recommend this awesome tool.
