Love this item. Easier than a regular tire pressure gauge.inflates and deflates. Big numbers are easy to read in most situations

Okay for occasional use but not shop quality

Trigger sometimes gets very stiff with flow reduced in colder weather (internal frost build up?). Relief valve sometimes gets stuck open allowing the tire to start deflating while you repeatedly tap the button to get it to re-seal properly. Gauge is not the most accurate and the scale (0-140psi) is too large for general automotive use. I replaced it with a more accurate one from Winters with a more suitable range (0-60psi), but the mount for the gauge is some weird size and had to be re-tapped for ¼ NPT. This was tricky because the body is made of extremely soft metal and there is not much thickness to spare. For occasional use if you only need accuracy to +/- 10 psi, this is an option. My attempt though to turn this inexpensive and mediocre inflator into something much more accurate that I could use in the shop long-term will probably not stand up to the test of time. It's just not in its DNA.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Only used once so far, but seems like a quality build. All metal construction too. Worked great

Questions

1 - 6 of 6 Questions

Q: I don’t understand how do I check the the tire pressure, there’s should be a manual or something written on the back.

2 Answers
  • A: The answer from Keith W is incorrect. The gun will act as a pressure gauge and will show the pressure in the tire when it is connected to the valve stem on the tire. The gun will not deflate your tire when there is no compressor connected, unless you press the relief valve on the side or squeeze the trigger to open the main valve. There is no need to have a compressor connected unless you want to inflate the tire. It is not "back pressure" from the compressor that prevents the flow of air out of the tire. It is the valve in the gun operated by the trigger. (If there were no such valve on the compressor side of the gauge to prevent reverse flow, it would not be possible for the gauge to statically measure the pressure in the tire alone.)

Q: What size/kind of adapter fitting do I buy so I can attach to the service station air hose? This gun will not attach to the compressor air hose at the garage with some other fitting.

  • A: You don't. Most service station air chucks and pressure gauges are permanently attached to prevent theft. Installing a quick-connect on this inflation gun will not help. You could use it afterwards on your tire to double check the pressure, but you aren't going to be attaching it directly to the service station air hose.

Q: Does this inflation gun feature a relief valve?

  • A: Yes, this inflation gun does feature a relief valve. It's the brass thumb button on the left side of the gun visible in the photos. The reply from the CT Product Team must be referring to a different product.
