Remember to replace every 3-4 years

Must be replaced every 3 to 4 years since it will fail around that time without warning.

So far so good!

I just installed this sump pump. My old pump used 1 1/4 inch fittings and there is nothing in the manual indicating 1 1/2 inch fittings. I maybe should have checked first but it took me a second trip to the hardware store to change out fittings. Now that the pump is installed it seems to be working okay.

Good Quality and Powerful Operation

Purchased this unit two weeks ago to replace the old pedestal pump that came with the house. The old pump overheated and failed due to the switch at top of unit staying engaged when the ball and rod failed to drop after the sump hole was evacuated. Submersible pumps are meant to run continuously under water… pedestal pumps do not, and are meant for intermittent operation. I did need to buy a 1.5 inch plastic adapter to thread into the outlet hole at pump bottom to allow attaching a length of new 1.5 inch plastic pipe to connect to the bottom of the check valve. The new pump replaces the old 1/3 horsepower pedestal pump with its own 1/3 rated horsepower, and pushes vertically approximately 8 feet strongly to empty the sump well. Somewhat quieter than the pedestal pump, and I do prefer the vertical switch over the little ball in a bottle design.

Not worth the money

It is supposed to start and stop on its own, depending on the water level. There has been many times now where it did not come back on and my basement filled with water. Returning the item.

Q: What kind of check valve do I need for this sump pump?

2 Answers
  • A: There was already a check valve in the line for the pump I replaced with this one; however I actually think the pump has a built-in check valve, so you wouldn't need one. You would need to check to be sure

Q: what is the horizontal distance that this sump pump can pump water

2 Answers
  • A: Centrifugal pumps have limited head (vertical) distance of that they can pump (say 10-15 ft). Horizontal with no back pressure it would be 50-100 ft if the pipe is big and the flow rate low.
