I bought this tap set to trap holes in a thin bar of aluminum. It worked ok but I noted the coating was pretty much done after the 4th hole. It still worked on the 5th hole though. I can’t say how well it would hold up tapping steel - that’s for another day. It would have been nice for this and other tap sets I looked at if they included a guide to ensure the tap would go perpendicularly into the hole you predrill. I guess they assume everyone has a drill press.
Overall, an ok set for the price.

Q: Can i use this set to create new threads in a hole or is it designed to be used only to clean out already existing threads?

Q: Does this set contain any dies? The images and part count seem to only indicate taps and a wrench for them but the description says "tap & die set" and "Ideal for re-threading stripped or rusty bolts and nuts" which could only be achieved with dies.
