Great Set

Received this item free for my honest opinion. My husband was thrilled when this set came in. He is fixing a weed eater and needed to rethread the sparkplug hole, he managed to get that done with the help of this set. Then the next project he used the set on was a 350 Chevy cylinder head. I have to say he liked using this set very much, the only downside he had is it was only standard, needs a whole new set for metric.
Overall he was happy with the rethreader and was able to get a few jobs done.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Best option for restoring damaged or corroded threads

I’ve been looking for something like this for quite a while. I’m thinking it’s a new product for CTC. In the past I’ve used my tap and die set to dress up degraded threads but I’ve found they often times they take too much base metal off leaving the thread engagement slightly less. It comes with all the common NC and NF thread combinations. I banged up a 3/8 bolt to try one and it worked great only removing the portion of threads that prevented assembly. I think the male thread chasers will be great for cleaning up engine block threads especially on aluminum. I ended up buying both the metric and standard sets with the sale price and bonus points made it the best time to buy. And with the Maximum brand I’m assured quality pieces. My only con is I wish they came in a little metal container for easy storage. However I found an old socket set case that I can stow them in.

Didn’t work on nuts, cleaned up bolts well.

Ended up returning this. The die worked really well on an anchor bolt I needed to repair, but the tap didn’t clean up the nuts and had to replace them anyway. Wish it was possible to just buy the die thread chasers, but can’t find anywhere. Wasn’t worth the price for only partially working.
