Great design!

I really like these. The fact that you can have two ratchets for 8 different sizes is a plus! They won't take up too much space in my box. The face can be hit with a ballpean hammer, so that you get a snug fit over the damaged bolt. They look very clean and sleek! Also, the 5 degree sweep is nice for tight access areas.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

Q: How much force can be applied before the teeth break. I am trying to use it on exhaust bolts and I have stopped short. I wanted to "nudge" the broken bolt with a hammer on the shaft of the wrench but did nor want to break the wrench.

  • A: Well it's got a lot of potential to do what you need. Just keep on twisting, maybe tap it onto the bolt/nut with a SMALL hammer as your turning it to get it to bite harder. I have done this and had great results. No issues breaking the teeth so far and it's a moderately frequently used tool in my box seeing as I work on lots of old 70, and 60's cars and trucks!

Q: What is the approximate size range of bolts these can handle?

  • A: The wrenches say 5/8" (16mm) for the biggest to 5/16" (8mm) for the smallest. But in experience you can go slightly bigger, especially when the bolt head has been shrunk due to wear and rust.

Q: Can you use these to tighten bolts as well? Do they damage the head of the bolt so you can't put the bolt back in with a regular socket?

  • A: These wrenches are a specialty tool designed to remove damaged and rusted bolts/nuts. The bolt would then - ideally - be discarded and replaced with a new bolt that is not damaged. The new bolt would be installed with a standard ordinary wrench.
