Inaccurate

Not very accurate. Bought 2 of them and they both claim water boils at 110 degC. Temperature off by at least 4 degC compared to thermostats, thermocouples, my other IR thermometers.

Q: What is the measuring ratio for this thermometer? On the Mastercraft Temperature Sensor page (#057-4554-4) , a person reported that gun's ratio as 8:1 meaning that at 8" away, the sensor reads a 1" diameter area. What is the ratio for this thermometer?

A: If the target you are measuring is six inches in size, and your handheld infrared thermometer has a D/S ratio of eight to one, then the maximum distance at which you can reliably measure the temperature of the target is 48 inches (8:1 x 6 = 48).

A: NO. Food temp should be taken internally and not from its surface. Bad advice to say its good for use with food.

A: Hi Kevin, The 0574632 Infrared Thermometer does not have a calibration function. It mat be possible that a reference temperature has been set which is causing the tool to display the difference in temperature between the reference location and the current location being scanned. I will reach out to customer service today to have them provide you with a copy of the manual(to the email address you have provided), which will also be added to the website soon. Hope this helps -
