Drill quick, break quick

Got these to drill into 1/8" steel. Worked well until it broke. Drilled 2 holes and then the bit broke on the third hole. Used a centre punch, lubricant and was going slow with not a lot of pressure but still ended up breaking. Was hoping the cobalt bit would be stronger but these were a let down. Stupid me threw out the receipt when I got home so stuck with them now.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Much better than standard bits. Worth the money.

This drill bits are much better than the standard CT drill bits that I had. When drilling stainless steel, my old bits would make very little progress, then make the metal glow, and then destroy the tip of the bit. Using these, I immediately saw metal shavings coming off, they cut well, and got the job done.

Q: Cobalt "Tipped"? Can you please tell me if these bits are entirely made of Cobalt?..or are they Cobalt "Tipped" ? I want to know if they can be sharpened,..and still retain their cutting properties? Thanxs!

A: Yes, these cobalt drills can be sharpened..however bear in mind that if improperly shaped in regard to flute angle and sharpening stone coarseness, they may not be as effective on their re sharpened cutting edges at the tip, as when new. Tighten your hold on the drill bit and bring it toward the grinder. Hold the bit at a 60-degree angle and lightly touch the grinder with the sloped side of the conical top. Pull the bit away from the grinding wheel for a moment, and then repeat the sharpening process. Continue sharpening the sides of the conical top. Test the sharpness of the drill bit with your fingers. If the bit isn't sharp enough, repeat the process. Don't grind away too much of the drill bit or the drill bit is ruined.

Q: What materials (e.g. steel, wood, plastic, concrete) is this drill bit meant for?

A: You can use these bits on steel, spray drill lubricant if used for steel, as cooling, will keep the bits sharper longer; and wood or plastic, but NOT CONCRETE! DO NOT use these on concrete as you will ruin the bit almost immediately! For concrete drilling there are special concrete drills sold with hardened carbide steel tooth, that will bite into concrete and the fine gravel inside concrete . Concrete drilling also requires a cooling water spray directly into the bit hole.
