Cannot lock the base.
Purchased this jigsaw in November 2022 but do not recommend it as you cannot cut a strait line with it due to the inability to lock the base in place. As a result the saw wanders when making a cut. This is shame as the motor is very powerful and the rest of the saw is of vey good quality. To improve teh saw a better base with positive locks is required.

The blade wanders
Every time I try to cut something thicker than 1/8th of an inch the blade wanders left or right. The blade will not stay within the guide wheels. The guide wheels move around and then the blade wanders or angles. I'll keep trying but, please don't buy this ( although I see its discontinued)
No, I do not recommend this product.

Just don't
This saw does NOT cut straight. In 1/2" plywood, I tried to cut some 3inch by 2 inch notches. It won't even stay straight long enough for such short cuts. I can't take it back, but it will sit in the back of the cupboard while I use a new one from somewhere else.

Use T-Shank blades
If you have problems getting the blade to follow your line (it may bend left or right) make sure you're using T-Shank blades. Standard jigsaw blades (U-Shank) do not sit properly in the guide behind the blade. T-Shank blades are an improvement over the older design and a selling point if you're looking for a new jigsaw.

It's served me well enough for 4 years
This is an average entry-level saw and price is it's best attribute. I've owned it for 4 years and it was frustrating at times, but I've figured out it's quirks and it now performs well enough. Other reviewers who say the blade doesn't tighten simply have not read the instructions properly. There are some really lousy features which will make you want to replace it eventually even if you are experienced with this type of tool.
The main issue is the pivot on the foot. It is designed to be adjustable, allowing angled cuts, but it does not tighten well and will always loosen during vibration of the saw. In my opinion, this tool would be a better tool if the foot were fixed in place and I'm contemplating using epoxy to achieve that on mine. I almost never use this for angled cuts, as I have better tools for that application. I f this were redesigned, I would manufacture it with a pivot that locks at commonly used angles, maybe 0, 15, 30, 45.
Another issue is the laser guide. It's completely useless for two reasons : it's not bright enough and it is not accurate. I don't use it at all but even without it you can achieve a decently straight freehand cut. Also, very little tearout on the bottom side using a new blade.

Q: Does this saw have an orbital action?
It is not stated in the product description whether this saw has an orbital action when cutting.

A: There is a lever on the left side of the unit that clicks into indent settings to angle the blade forward for aggressive cutting or vertical for scroll work. As far as being "orbital" I cant tell the blade moves too fast for me to see, but yes with good blades this thing moves wood.

Q: How can I lock the base from tilting? It must be possible to achieve a level cut. It can bevel left and right but i cant see how to lock it straight up and down.

1 Answer
A: 1. Use the hex key to loosen the hex screw securing the saw base.
2. Align the 0° mark with the edge of the enclosure and pull the base forward/backward to ensure that the 0° quick-adjustment slot on the base engages with the clamping screw.
3. Re-tighten the hex screw.

Q: why do the u shapes blades keep releasing themselves from the chuck?
i have on many occasions had the u shaped saw blades come loose from the chuck can someone explain how the locking blade system works?
1 Answer
A: It can be used with u shaped saw blade, please try again and below are some detailed instructions copied from the product manual:
The tool-less blade-change lever will go back automatically when the blade is held in place.
Depress the tool-less blade-change lever. Insert the blade directly into the
slot of the tool-less blade change holder. The teeth of the blade should
be facing the front and pointing up (when saw is right side up, in cutting
position), and the back of the blade must rest in the groove of the blade
guide rollers.
