The MAXIMUM 186501-pk 3V Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Battery offers a USB direct charge design for effortless power replenishment. Its LED charging indicator shows red while charging and green when fully charged. Works well with Coast PX1 flashlight

Bought this as a drop in replacement for a Coast PX1 flashlight equipped with a three pack AAA battery assembly from the factory and it works perfectly in that role. My only quibble is that the charging system is Micro USB rather than USB-C like the equivalent (but pricier) Coast battery.

Q: Is this a protected or unprotected 18650?

A: I must say that I am a little confused about the question. I can say that I use these in my games and flashlights. This battery is well made and a standard that I have purchased quite often with no problems. I also have charged this battery to have it ready for the next use and it also saves money. I always carry one or two spares when I need a backup for my tactical flashlights. You may have to checkout a few electronics stores, Canadian Tire or other hardware stores. I used to access them from The Source but I am not sure if they stock them. I hope this was helpful, Regards Bill.

Q: Is this 18650 battery a protected battery? Also the unit I have this in has a built in charging capability for 18650 batteries so can I charge it in the unit and not use the USB battery top to charge?

A: Both the 0653115 and 0653116 battery are packed with a Protection Circuit Module that have functions of overcharging protection, over dis-charging protection and over current prevention. They can be charged by 4.2V lithium battery charger.
