MAXIMUM 140A Multi-Process Welder with LCD Screen

I got this welder about 2 weeks ago to replace my Mastercraft flux core MIG welder and I'm not sure what took me so long. This new Maximum 140i Multi- Process welder does everything the old welder does but it also does so much more and does it better. The welder itself is more than capable to cover all my welding needs for home and for the shop. I currently use it for home and personal use so it's great that i can plug the unit into a regular 110 outlet. The MIG works as it should when welding any automotive grade sheet metal or steel. I put it to the test on some 1/8 steel and created welds just as good as some of the higher priced welders. The stick welding feature comes in very handy for when shielding gas isn't an option, I found that it worked best for me with 6013 electrodes. The TIG welding is a little new to me but the instruction manual is extremely easy to read and understand, it also give instructions on how to weld even if you haven't done it before. It will take some practice to get used to the scratch start feature. I have used the welder for at least 4-5 straight hours trying all the different welds and so far this has not disappointed me at all. At the various amperages that I was using the duty cycle was never reached. This welder is more than capable for all my welding needs in my little shop. the unit is built well and easy to set up and use. The welding cables are as long as they should be and they are not made of cheap plastic so the look as though they can take some shop abuse. The welder setting are simple to understand and make it fairly simple when it comes to changing the type of welding you want to do. For a welder that has this many features and at this price, you can't go wrong. All I had to buy was the wire, the tungsten for TIG and my gas, only because I'm not planning to use the flux-core feature on this welder. Greg C
