lasting way longer than expected

20 minutes with a file fixed the fence. too little clearance, so it was super hard to move before I gave it the machinst touch. ;-). I have done 4 backsplashes, 5 small areas, and several floors. maybe just over 1500 sq. ft. of tile. I'm on the 3rd blade. If you adjust the blade gaurd so the back is high and front just touches the tile 90% of the water goes back in the tray. If the fence is straight, it rips 24-inch tiles fantastic so long as you push the final inch with a scrap to avoid the last 1/4 inch chipping. I was using a top mount motor this weekend and I prefer this one so the blade undercuts vs. having to finish the cut with the top mount motor. this saw was worth every penny. It just won't die.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Can't put it together?

The fence is not moving at all, I have to use force or do boxing with it to move. The instruction is written by some really stupid idiot. We are sitting three people here, still can't figure how to put the blade

No, I do not recommend this product.

This saw has been discontinued for more than 5-years, not sure where / how you purchased it. If from Canadian Tire, there will be a 1-800 number on the box that can be called for assistance.

Great product

Have been using this for 4 years now and it has never failed. natural stone, ceramic & porcelain tile, nothing stops it as long as you keep it clean and keep changing blades regularly. I am not sure if there is any difference between this and CT's product #99-4744-2

Yes, I recommend this product.

I like the fact that it has a built in water tray to save on the mess, but was a bit disappointed that it was plastic and not more sturdy. However, it does a very good job for what it is meant for.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Can it cut a 1/4" thick glass? I do not know exactly the type of glass. The edge are all rounded up and one side of the glass seem to have being sand-blasted. the other is smooth. I never used the small glass cutter you hold like a pencil. I need to make a straight cut about 23".

  • A: No. You can't cut glass with this saw or any other saw. You need a glass cutter. Your glass may be tempered in which case you cannot cut it at all. If you attempt to cut tempered glass it will shatter.

Q: Blade keeps coming loose after just seconds of cutting. Can't tighten it any more without fear of damaging. Any suggestions?

  • A: I had this problem. Make sure that you are cutting straight, and not rubbing the tile against the side of the blade, or else the vibrations will cause the nut to loosen. And tighten the bolt.

Q: can this saw cut porcelain tile that measures 12 by 24 inches?

  • A: I doubt it, especially diagonals. Unless of course you are cutting a relatively small corner or edge that is less than the maximum fence width of about 6.5"

Q: How much noise and water spatter would i expect? I am in a apartment, I am not too worried about water spatter but noise I am little concerned. Is this as loud as using as skilsaw? Thanks

3 Answers
  • A: I little less noise than a skilsaw. Put down some towels to soak up a little splatter about where you are standing when using it. A bit of a fine mist comes towards the user.

Q: Tile Size What is the largest tile I could cut with this saw?

  • A: The max fence width is 6.5", so you could do any straight cut on a 12" tile, and probably a full diagonal on up to a 10" tile

  • A: Il y a 1-2 vis dans le pont sur le côté droit. Elles doivent être retirées pour permettre de soulever le plateau de coupe. Cela permet d'accéder à la lame et à l'écrou qui la maintient.
