Awesome

Great product, had a set of 4 in my old house, now have 2 sets of 4 in the new place. Very convenient, solid and keeps everything nice and neat. Would recommend to everyone who has tires to store.

Love Hate Relationship

Love: The simplicity and function. I had these in my last shop so I bought some for my new shop. They work great and the install is simple. Hate: They changed the "design" to smaller screws and holes in the bracket. Wouldn't be an issue except I bought four brackets and 2 were big lag screws and 2 small. The best part is they still package the same instructions, so I warn you, DO NOT DRILL THE HOLE SIZE THEY RECOMMEND if you have the small screws. I drilled the holes in the bracket bigger and used larger lags to match the holes I drilled in my studs.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Found it again!

I had installed these in a previous house I had and left them on the garage wall when I sold the house. And regretted it! Have been looking for them again for my new house with a very narrow garage and just found them again! Wonderful. I'm a slight woman and can still lift two tires enough to stack them 2 x 2 and still be able to open my car doors.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Good Product

These are simple to install, just find your stud and you are good to go. I have 8 sets of tires that are mounted on the wall now. Much nicer than having a floor stand for that many tires as these do not use up valuable floor space. I gave an overall rating of only 4 because I found the price to be a little steep for what it is. Appearance? its hidding all the time, so that is of no consequence to me. Quality - its a piece of bent steel, so a rocket scientist was not involved in its design. I would not recommend this to anyone that would be unable to lift anything heavy above their heads. I have 3 rows from floor to ceiling for my tires ( I was only able to mount 3 per row due to having a concrete border in my garage, otherwise I should have been able to mount all 4.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Solid and simple

Solid brackets and a simple solution to storing tires in a garage. I wrap the threaded end with electrical tape before sliding my alloy wheels on and off, because I suspect that one too many trips over the threads would start to wear the wheels. My only problem is that heaving the wheels onto the brackets is a difficult task, because you're struggling with 50 - 60 lb of wheel and tire (the winter tires and steel rims for my van come to mind) above your head and trying to get one of the wheel's bolt holes through the bracket's bolt. However, that's not the bracket's fault, so I didn't knock it for that. And remember - follow the instructions and dril those pilot holes - the lag screws are quite big.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Can the Mastercraft tire hook be used with tires without the rim?

  • A: Not recommended. The tire could get damaged. For storing the tires without rim look for the Tire Rack 009-0078-8

Q: Can I use this to mount my tires on my ceiling? I am wondering if I can put this hook on my ceiling, and use it to hold my tires up that way. Any thoughts?

1 Answer
  • A: You should only use the tire hooks on the walls. If located on the ceiling, the tires would fall off.

Q: Are these to be installed one hook per stud? Just wondering if you can put two on a stud or should it be one per stud on the garage wall?

1 Answer
  • A: Yes that is correct. Actually, it is possible to install two hooks per stud. Just make sure that you place the hooks far enough apart for the tires to fit.

Q: How deep is the hook? Am I the only one who doesn't understand what the dimensions 15x45 inches means? How deep is the hook? (ie. how wide of a wheel will the hook hold?)

1 Answer
  • A: The tire hook extends approx 9 inches (23 cm) from the wall and as long as the wheel mounting depth is less than 8 inches (20 cm) then the threaded bolt will slip through the rim and the washer and nut can be secured onto the threaded bolt. The tire hook was designed to hold the majority of tires and rims, however, if your tires and rims are custom and wider than most standard tires, there is a chance that your tires/rims are too wide to utilize the individual Mastercraft tire hook.
