    Not reliable

Last power failure lasted 2 days, it failed after 8 hours of working. Again a few month later the charger became defective and was not charging anymore. This system is not reliable and it nnow is discontinued so no more parts available. I am changing to a water pressure driven pump connected on city water line. 100% reliable.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Backup Sump Pump

Pump works OK, but the charging system tends to overcharge the battery and destroys it overtime which is very costly and makes this system absolutely useless because it is not dependable. Look to another brand that has a better charging system or use an automotive type trickle charger rather than what is included.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Obsolete

I had this pump in my sump pit for 10 yrs without a problem. Pipe sprung a leak and got the circuit board wet. Within a month all the spades broke off the circuit board. I looked on the Flotec web site but couldn't find the pump or parts so I contacted them directly. Here was their reply: Dear Sir, I’m sorry to say that your model FP1800DCC is Obsolete and no longer available-nor is the replacement charger kit (A/C adaptor with lights on it) available. It appears that you will have to replace the entire system. The new model number for this unit is FPDC20 and you may wish to check it on our webpage at www.flotecwater.com. Thank you for your inquiry, Not sure why Canadian Tire is selling an obsolete pump that will not be able to be serviced even if it is under warranty. Replaced my whole backup system with a Simer system from another store.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Worst customer service

I purchased this item 2 1/2 yrs. ago. It was tested regularly. On Jan. 30 we had a 4 hour power outage. Note that my sump rins fairly regular, so a reliable back up is necessary. Well, this system failed to work. The battery indicator shows good battery, but the pump nor alarm activated. I contacted Flotec asking what the problem could be and the reply from the customer service rep. was "I’m sorry to say that there is nothing I can offer to help you since your pump warranty has expired." How is that for advice?! Never buy a Flotec product again. Switched to Zoeller.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: What battery does one need for this pump? Why isn't there an easy link to the required battery?

    • A: I forgot to consider the fact that there is a box for the battery to be put in, unless you want an oversize battery to be put outside the box, otherwise need to take the box along when shopping for the deep cycle battery.

Q: How do I connect battery to the control unit? The deep cycle marine battery that I bought based on the recommendation on the box of Sump pump has 2 terminals that are too big to put the supplied rings over. One almost fit s, the other not even close. thanks

    1 Answer
    • A: The battery should have post terminals and a place to attach with a bolt. The 62-3549 would hook up to the bolts, not the terminals directly. If the battery doesn't have that they would need some type of adaptor.

    1 Answer
    • A: This is a difficult question to answer without knowing the details of the scenario. The back up sump pump is only supposed to go on if and when the primary pump is overwhelmed or if it fails to operate. We are not sure which pump is cycling on and off but that is typical of a pump provided there is water in the pit. Pumps will operate for a few minutes at a time and shut off once the water is drained to a certain level. Typically, the float switch senses the water rise and it will turn on the primary pump. If the water is flowing into the pit too fast and overwhelming the primary pump, a secondary float switch on the second pump will sense water and activate.
