Not as accurate as it should be

Took it out of the case and tried measuring some precision drill rod. Measurements were unrepeatable. Therefore this is not useful for measuring to the last decimal place and is therefor no better than a set of calipers.

Qualité très surprenante et très précis, se compare bien avec des Mitutoyo qui sont beaucoup moins abordables. J'ai le 0-1" et le 1-2" et je suis très satisfait. Ce serait vraiment bien si ces micromètres seraient disponibles jusqu'à 6".

Q: how do i calibrate this micrometer i bought one and the instructions tell of a set screw that needs to be loosened with a precision screw driver on the barrel, but there is absolutely no screw to loosen on the barrel, of this i am 100% sure. Are these the wrong instructions?

A: This item was recently upgraded in quality and instead of a set screw, there is now a spring clip in the barrel. This means that you no longer needs to loosen or tighten ‘set screw’ before & after calibration (and step 2 and 5 from the instruction sheet can be skipped). There are new instructions sheets that were created this summer.
