    No Jam

I bought this to drill into concrete using a 3/8" concrete bit and it didn't have enough jam to drill it. The hammering action isn't enough. I was using a powerful drill too. I took this back and bought #54-2951-6 and it chewed through the concrete without a problem. Don't bother with this thing, buy a real hammer drill.

No, I do not recommend this product.

This thing is weak, the cheapest hammer drill will out perform this. It does work but it takes 10 times the time it will with my hammer drill that i bought on sale for 60$.

No, I do not recommend this product.

don't bother if drilling 4 3/8" into concrete...

My shed required 4 3/8" anchor bolts fastened to the concrete slab. I got this adapter as a gift - needless to say, it couldn't get the job done. I was using the adapter with a relatively new 5A corded drill. The bit would always loosen at the adapter chuck never reaching 4" deep. Unless you’re drilling smaller, more shallow holes, do yourself a favour and get the right tool for the right job - a real hammer drill!

    Broke after 25 holes

I was very disappointed with this product. I purchased it because I already own a very nice, very much proven DeWalt corded drill that I have owned for 6 years now (still as good as new), and thought that having this adapter would be more practical to have than a second drill (less stuff to lug around, right?). The drilling seemed to work well enough, so long as I didn't force it. However, I only managed to drill 25 holes with this adapter when some small plastic pieces inside the plastic grip (they apparently held the metal portion in place) snapped. Clearly this item is not designed to be very durable -- when you look at these small snapped pieces you wonder how the plastic holder is expected to stay attached to the metal portion for long. Why couldn't this holder be made of metal as well? I will be returning this and just purchasing a hammer drill instead.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: suitable replacement for hammer drill? Will this adapter provide the same hole as hammer drills, for the purpose of installing TapCon concrete fasteners?

    • A: the same whole: yes, the same time to perform the job: no! it wont go much deeper than an inch and takes about 10 times longer than a hammer drill.

Q: Drill through bathroom tiles Can that Hammer Drill be used to drill successfully in-to bathroom tiles?

    • A: any hammer drill risk damaging the tile, try a regular drill with the proper bit, it will take a bit longer than a hammer drill, but much safer for the tile.
