Q: oil and how can canola or baby oil be used on the stone? if not, what product does Canadian Tire sell? how much oil needs to be applied to the stone? How long before using the stone? Must the stone be cleaned of the all the oil before putting it away?

A: I use cutting oil for sharpening, you can also use clean car engine oil. You just need a thin film on the stone or blade if you are going to file sharpen it. Yes clean the stone with a cloth, wrap in saran and put away. use the stone as a finish sharpening tool for the blade.

A: It does not have a case, but it does have a blade guard that doubles as a carrying handle or hanger.

Q: Is this an oil stone or a whetstone? i.e should I use or or water on it?

A: This product is an oil stone. If it's a rough grind, add water to make it easier to clean. If fine grinding, then add oil, it could improve the number of stone mesh, grinding more sharp.

A: This stone could not be used as a Lapping stone for a 3000/8000 water stone. This stone has a combination grit, coarse(dark color 120 grit) and fine( light color 240 grit).
