Excellent Product For Smaller / Thinner Cutting

I had recently helped my Son erect a backyard swing set for his young children. After the set was erected and securely fastened into the ground, we attached the two (2) included swing seats; with chains; into the locking fasteners. The chains of both seats were three (3) feet longer than the height we decided was ideal for a young child. After measuring the width of the chain links, I purchased this smaller bolt cutter as it was the perfect size to fit over the link to be cut. Each cut was done quickly and perfectly to remove the excess links. After the cuts, I realized the edges of the cut links were rather sharp. I then decided to return to my local CTC store to buy a metal file to round off the edges of the cut links to complete the job. This bolt cutter is very well built and so easy to use for small jobs and was very economically priced compared to other Hardware stores in my area.

Q: Will these 12” bolt cutters cut a combination lock or a pad lock with ease or will it need pressure

  • A: All bolt cutters require quite a bit of pressure to cut locks. Depending on the gauge of the pad lock you may need a different size bolt cutter. The cutting capacities are listed on the product page by size.

Q: There is a gap on the cutting blades and I try to adjust the 2 bolts at the top. It helps but still not 100% perfect. Is there any further adjustment I can made other than the 2 bolts?

  • A: This can be a flaw: There should not be a gap in between, and the blades should close together. Maybe you could get it exchanged at the store.

Q: 30 inch cutting capacity? Please tell me the 30 inch Bolt cutters maximum capacity? The Features section states 5/32" ( which seems small for 30 inch cutters? ) However, if 5/32" is correct, then why is 3.9 mm also listed? Perhaps 3.9/10th's of an inch was meant ?
