this being the second unit after the first one failed, and the pump broke after a few years, (see previous review) this one now, on testing won't shut off. only way to stop the thing is to unplug the fuse and power. I do not recommend this product.

Doesn't work

The product is terrible. When the pump kicks on the controller trips to pump failure, bypassing the controller shows the pump and battery are operating fine. So it's a controller issue tripping on the in-rush current when the pump starts. Called Mastercraft and they said this backup DOESN'T charge the battery, even though there is a charging light and plug. You need to charge the battery separately twice a year. Will be returning.

Q: The pump stopped working the first time it was needed. The sensor code said it was either pump failure or wiring problem. We are just passed our 3 year mark, how do we go about getting a new pump instead of buying a whole new unit?

2 Answers
  • A: I had the same problem. The trouble is usually the level sensor. It is not available on its own. The water level sensor has three conductors, the brown wire is common and the other two are hi and low level. With a multimeter you can get continuety between common and hi or low. This confirms the sensor operation. I had to make my own with reed switches. Applying 12 vdc to the pump connector confirms that the pump is ok.

Q: Is there any way to disable the alarm sound on the battery back up sump pump? The alarm sounds every time the pump is working when the power is off. This is very annoying when the power goes off in the middle of the night when we are trying to sleep.

Q: Just bought this and it operates fine without ac adapter plugged in. Cycles on and off via float. With ac pumps unplugged and ac adapter plugged in it activates via float then shuts off. Alarm sounds and flashes red. Almost impossible to reset.

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, usually re-plugging the adapter should reset the unit and fix the issue.
