    Great for repair and fabrication

Using an arc welder needs practice, but it does pay off. I am used to using a wire fed MIG, but with the arc welder can switch rods quickly for when needing to work with different medium ( ie. cast iron, rusted or painted materials ). I have used mine for repairing a rototiller, lawnmower and build myself a stand for a bench grinder.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Avoid this product

I don't usually post reviews, but I need to in this case. The power output on this welder is so un-stable it takes many attempts for it to even strike an arc, once it does if fails to fuse with the thinnest material, but once and a while the power spikes and blows holes in your material. I would not even recommend this for tack welding. After this welder ruined yet another project, I grabbed it by the wires and performed a Hendrix-esce swing and smashed it on my floor so nobody else would ever be subject to it. 1 star for durability as I had to clean it up with a dust pan. Bought a Lincoln, not that much more money, and overnight I became a much better welder. Go figure.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Save Your Money

would not recommend for anything, bought this welder to learn on and was using it for over a year and was either burning through the metal or wasn't getting good penetration even within the recommended metal thickness, replaced welder with Lincoln and it was like night and day guaranteed I have a lot to learn but this welder makes it that much harder, my advice save your money and wait for a Lincoln to go on sale.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    • A: This welder is intended for the do it yourself enthusiast's use at home and in a workshop for repair work and light steel fabrication work. The tool is not suitable for professional or industrial use. Designed to use for mild steel or alloys in DIY applications. Welds up to 1/8” (3.2 mm) mild steel.

Q: Does this have a regular 3 prong plug that i can plug into a normal household electrical outlet Thinking about buying one to use for small projects in the garage

    • A: As stated above: "As for the 8193, 120v input, and when using the max output setting, it is 24A input, and 70Aoutput; when using the min output setting, it is 19A input,60A output" Therefore an "ordinary plug" would work, but must be backed by the appropriate FUSE, or CIRCUIT BREAKER

Q: Will istalling a 30 amps fuse prevent the 70A arc welder from blowing a fuse or damaging rhe electrical system when used on the high setting ?

    2 Answers
    • A: The actual welding voltage is only about 10 to 15 volts . The welder transformer lowers the voltage to raise the amperage to get the heat for melting. You CANNOT just put a larger fuse or breaker in the fusebox. This would overload the wiring and could start a FIRE! You need heavier (larger) wire for the increased power the welder needs like #12 or #10ga . The larger [10ga] would be best especially for a longer distance from the fuse box.

Q: Will the 70 amp-l20 V arc welder blow the fuses or trip the breaker on a regular house circuit ? If so how can we avoid or solve this problem ?

    2 Answers
    • A: It would probably need 20-25 amp breaker and 12 to 10 gauge wire with that amperage. The larger the better. Anything longer than 20 ft. the 10 ga. The heavier the wire the more power you get at the welder.
