Works like a charm

I have had this saw for about 4 years now. I constantly use it to cut through metal and I use it once in a while to cut through wood. It has plenty of power to cut through anything I have put in its path. I have gone through at least 100 blades with this saw and it still works like new.

I got mine years ago on sale but it is a steal even at the regular price. I have used it to tear down a deck, cutting through wood, nails and bolts; chop up scrap metal and to cut up firewood that is too small to bother using a chainsaw on.
The only issue I have is that the Mastercraft blades are quick to wear out and slow down. Invest in some top quality blades like Milwaukee and you can't go wrong.

This just cuts everything. I've used it in demo as well as cutting out an overgrown Juniper bush.
Love that it comes with a case- makes storing it easier.
While you're at it, get the Mastercraft reciprocating blade set that comes in a velcro roll pouch, item 54-8048-2. The pruning/ wet-wood blade sure is mean. Cuts through bush trunks like butter.
Got this on sale when it was 50% off- it's worth the full price. Got the blade set when they were on for 50 or more % off- would wait for the sale.
Very happy with this saw; just love it.

Q: no case included; where and how do I get a case?

A: I just bought this, to replace an old 6 amp on which the blade change mechanism broke. The old one came with a case, but this 8.5 amp one was too big for it; UNTIL I cut the preshaped liner out of the bottom half of the case. Now this new unit fits well, and there's lots of room for extra blades. I used my CTC multitool, with the wood blade, to go around/under the outer edge of the liner; then I pulled the liner out.

A: Don't think there is one included. I never got one, however, I've never needed one since the key-less blade locking system allows me to store it anywhere easily without worrying about the blade being damaged or damaging anything close to it. I just keep my blades handy in their own case. Hope that helps.

Q: Can I still get parts for an older model? I have an older model recip saw (product # 54-8166-0) that needs repairs.Can I still get parts? I no longer have the exploded view so I guess I would need that for the part # as well.

A: Peux importe la longeur de la lame de la plus courtes à la plus longues l'outil va faire l'ouvrage si la lame est longue c'est plus délicat mais tu développe une dextériter la lame va dans les deux sens les dents vers le bas ou vers le haut tout dépent des situations mais l'outil encaisse les erreurs de l'opérateur. Lame pour métaux c'est merveilleux peut importe l'épaisseur du métal.
