Good little compressor

I bought this product a couple of years ago and found it to be a good product for small projects. When the fuse blew (3 amp) , I went back to get a replacement…there was no such thing and none could be ordered. I have a good compressor that looks good on a shelf but doesn’t work because of a 50 cent item.

short lived

Bought the 3 gallon compressor without the nailer on sale. Worked great at first try. I bought the quick disconnects and thought I had a nifty little compressor. After a year and only 6 uses, the air pressure could no longer get past 30 psi. An air compressor that can't compress air is useless. With a 3 year warranty, I had to take it to Canadian Tire's local service shop. They called me and said it was too expensive to fix and to get a return. Because of such a short life, I decided not to replace with this brand. This gives a prime example how the consumer pays when a product is only used occasionally. Better standards are needed.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great for small tasks

Bought this specifically to build a mdf shelf to hold all my gaming systems nicely and it was excellent for tacking everything in place before screwing it all in place. Gun kind of heavy but i have no comparison. Small enough to tuck away and for the price i am very satisfied.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: does this unit include hose & other fittings

  • A: A cheap hose, you will want a better one. Some fittings and a tire pump, ball needle pump, blower for dust and crumbs, threading tape. the basics to get you going. Need to get nails separately other than that ready to go out of the box

Q: Is the compressor strong enough to handle a flooring nailer? Would this compressor be strong enough to use with a flooring nailer when installing hardwood flooring.

1 Answer
  • A: For installing flooring, we would recommend something bigger. This 3 gallon compressor with brad nailer combo is perfect for projects such as installing trim, mouldings, and baseboards. The brad nailer is for use with 18 gauge brads and can use less than 2” nails. It is intended to be used only for small projects

Q: Can it use staples and/or less than 2" nails? I have to do 1/4 round moulding and don't think I need 2' nails for it. Also doing some floor moulding so looking at staples. Is it powerful enough to attach 2x4 studs together? Thanks

  • A: Thanks for your question. This 3 gallon compressor with brad nailer combo is perfect for projects such as installing trim, mouldings, and baseboards. The brad nailer is for use with 18 gauge brads and can use less than 2” nails. The length range for this tool is 5/8”-2”. The best size to use for ¼ round mouldings is typically 1 ¼”, look for Sku # 058-8470 for a 1000 pack or #058-9419 for a 5000 pack. Another good option is the 18 gauge Brad nail variety pack, #058-8485, which has 4 different sizes of nails making it good for just about any project. This tool however, is only a brad nailer, not a stapler. You can use 18 gauge brad nails to install base board moulding, if you get a spot that isn’t drawing into the wall tight enough, you can drive one nail on an angle away from you and a second just above it on the opposite angel, toward you, and this should give you the extra hold. You can also purchase an additional Mastercraft 18 gauge ¼” narrow crown stapler to go along with your combo if you prefer to use staples. Lastly, fastening 2x4’s requires a fastener with a much larger gauge than an 18 gauge brad nail. I would suggest a 34 degree framing strip nailer for this application. I like the Maximum nailer that is on sale right now, #058-9345, as it is great value. If this is intended to be used only for small projects the 3 gallon compressor should work fine, but If you need to get somewhat frequent use out of this nailer you will need to look into getting a larger compressor. I would recommend the Mastercraft #299-1978 as it is more than enough to handle any project and is easy to move around with its wheeled base.
