This is a toy

Regretted purchasing the 20v. Have an 18 v dewalt multiple times more powerful. Expected a 20v to be more powerful. This struggles even to screw drywall screws. Waste of money.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Unreliable. Cuts out mid-job

Battery is the weakest link. Tool is ok. But battery is cheap. Couldn't complete a quarter of a deck on fully charged battery. Dead. Recharged it. Goes half way and cuts out for no reason. Unreliable.

Very Good product

I bought this 8-9 months ago to do odd jobs around the house. My son borrowed it for the summer to build decks for his various customers and it never fails him. He would recharge the two batteries a few times a day, but the tool itself is still flawless.

I mean..it does drill holes

Chuck failed on the first one I had, exchanged for a 2nd. Quite a bit more visible run-out in the chuck on the 2nd one than the 1st. Chuck seems to be the weak link with these. No issues with power but I havent used it for heavy work. Clips above battery to hold bits are weak and bits fall out consistently. Does seem to be made of quality plastic, glass fiber reinforced nylon by the look and feel. Fantastic deal if you can find it on sale in the combo kit with the 1/2'' impact wrench and battery/charger. battery it comes with is rather low capacity.

Yes, I recommend this product.

No parts available outside warranty

Bought it a few years ago, it worked great. Plenty of power. Good battery life. Good gear reduction. Recently, one of the chuck jaws was damaged due to a drill bit slipping for a while during a long cut, so it would no longer hold a drill bit straight. It happens; chucks are a wearable item on any drill, right? Every drill I've ever owned, the chuck is the first thing to go. Obviously I don't expect warranty, just a new chuck. It's my fault the bit was slipping, also I have no idea what I did with the receipt, who saves those things? The chuck is physically replaceable on this and every other drill, it has a left hand screw in the middle, and it comes right out. I looked in the owners manual, and I find **the part number for the chuck**. Went to Canadian tire, they say they "don't sell parts for any of their tools" Alright.... Can't even order me one? Part numbers right in front of you? Odd. They recommend I call Mastercraft customer service and say 'good luck' sarcastically. Called Mastercraft customer service, they said even though there's a parts listing with part numbers in the manual, it's impossible to buy a chuck -- even though they're available for warranty, since this isn't a warranty problem, it's just 'wear and tear', there's no way they'll sell me one out of warranty. .. Why put a parts guide in the manual? So if you accidentally break the chuck on this thing it's a throw away. I now have one two-year-old useless drill with no chuck.. To me this is like buying a car and finding out that they don't sell brake pads for it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Can I use this for car's lug nuts?

2 Answers
  • A: I would not use a drill/driver for lug nuts no matter what the brand. Most lug nuts are impact driven on. Bottom line is that they are torqed on way too tight for this type of tool. There are a number of good impact drivers both pneumatic and electric available that should be used instead

Q: is there a stonger batterie for this drill??

  • A: Not a "stronger" battery, but, a 2.6Ah (Amp Hour) battery (which is available for this drill) will give you longer run time between charges.

Q: Seems like a good product, but why 1 battery?

2 Answers
  • A: I think there's a few reasons for this. You can top up the battery any time so there's less of a need to "swap out until my other battery is 100% charged" kinda thing you worry about with NiCADs. Also, Li-ION seems to hold its charge "forever" between uses. So there's less of a concern of having to keep one battery on the charger all the time so the drill is never dead dead when you go to use it. Also, you can leave the battery docked on the plugged in charger ALL THE TIME. So it's 100% whenever you want to slide it off and go do a day's work. Pity the charger is not a drill-docking style. So you must remove the battery and mount it on the charger, then remount on drill when needed.
